If it hadn’t been for “Just Vybe” featuring the lovely miss Fatima, I probably would’ve never heard of UK Funky man DVA. Recently he announced his debut album, “Pretty Ugly”, is coming out in 2012 on Hyperdub Records, but before the end of the year he’ll be releasing a 12″ first. It will contain “Madness” featuring Vikter Duplaix (plus an instrumental version) and “Polyphonic Dreams” on the flipside. Also peep the video or pre-order at Rush Hour.

Oh boy oh boy oh boy! Sam aka Floating Points is returning November 21st with his “Shadows” EP on Eglo Records. I’ve truly fallen in love with this one song “Myrtle Avenue” featuring miss Fatima. It just sounds so incredibly sexy! The video for “Sais” is also pretty tight, so I suggest you peep that as well. Recently the good people from the Red Bull Music Academy uploaded some new video footage. We wanted to share Oddisee‘s video, because he once saw a man being eaten by a crocodile and because he describes the life of a RBMA participant very well. I remember meeting Suff Daddy at the Hi-Hat Club release party last year and one thing became clear. This guy loves his alcohol, weed and beats. So in search of some quality “‘Gnac” (cognac for you designated drivers) Suff embarked on a journey to Prague. No this video is not about adding more Nike shoes to your collection at all! The name “Morenike” (moe-re-knee-ke), in Yoruba means ‘I have found one to cherish’ and is usually bestowed upon a much sought after female child. Taken from Siji‘s sophomore album“Adesiji” this song has earned it’s own videoclip. Special mention should also be made of Laron Land’s brilliant horn arrangements (part Afro, part Jazz/big band swing), which helped to lend significant weight to the feel and mood of the song. The album is available via for those that haven’t bought it yet.
Last month we met up with Soulquarian Bilal after his show in Amsterdam (Paradiso) and behold the result. Our camera man Joao couldn’t make it, so me and Deluge decided to shoot the video ourselves on his Canon 550D. Big thank you for editing it though and I think it came out pretty nice, because Bilal goes pretty deep.
As you might know his album “Airtight’s Revenge” (Plug Research) is coming out in a month and today his first single “Restart” drops. Aight…finally we can check out Invincible & Waajeed‘s “Detroit Summer” video. You saw the behind the scenes footage, the vinyl pressing footage and whatnot. The video also features the B-side joint “Emergence” which I’m personally not feeling quite as much as “Detroit Summer”. Okayplayer got the premiere on this one, so enjoy this El-lqaa directed video. What a coincidence I was just talking about these guys earlier today and I heard they have a new project coming up on Innovative Leisure. No doubt Bryant is in the face melting business and this video proves it.
