Two years after the genre defying Beat Dimensions Vol.1, Jay Scarlett and Cinnaman present the long due Vol.2.  Expect three 12″ s parts, a 7″.  t-shirt designs, slipmats as well as a CD and digital configuration.

First to drop is EP1, which contains five tracks from beatmakers all over the world like Danny Breaks & DJ Adlib,  Mono/Poly (LA) and Nosaj Thing (LA), Kenlo Craqnuques (Quebec) and Dalt Wisney (Karachi).  The release date is set to May 7th so Pre-Order here, and be on the lookout for part 2 & 3.

Dj Spinna flips the familiar Kool & The Gang tune “Summer Madness” on this first leak of his highly anticipated album “Sonic Smash”. The track features Fresh Daily and Daniel Joseph. A while ago Spinna leaked a making of video..

Remember the Nicholas Ryan Gant post from a while ago? Well that “Mystery” track was produced by none other then Japanese producer Mabanua. I thought it would be nice to introduce ya’ll to this guy eventhough his album “Done Already” has been out for a while. Check it out for yourself, pass your own judgement, but know that it features artists like Akil (J5), Kev Brown, Nicholas Ryan Gant, Eshe (Arrested Development) and Tamala. Don’t forget to buy the album on iTunes if you like it!

On March 10th I was lucky enough to be able to sit down with Q-Tip, after his show in Paradiso Amsterdam, for about 30 minutes and ask him some of the many questions I’ve had for years as a real A Tribe Called Quest fanatic. My original reason for wanting to interview him was to hear his side of the story on the “Got Til It’s Gone” situation that Dilla shed light on in the 2003 Dustbusters audio interview. I intended to make it an audio interview too, but the audio didn’t turn out too good hence the transcript. Check it out after the jump.

Philadelphian singer Alma Horton aka Lady Alma is praised worldwide for appearances on songs by King Britt/Sylk130, 4Hero, Fanatix, Rednose Distrikt, DJ Spinna and many others. Later this year she is finally getting ready to drop her solo debut, for which she is teaming up with none other than Mark de Clive-Lowe. Having proved their chemistry in the past with tracks such as “Gotta Be A Way”, “Pressure” and “Running for Nothing” this surely is to be one of the most promising releases of 2009.

During their collaboration on Alma’s original solo debut “Running For Nothing”, which remains unreleased and features production by King Britt, James Poyser and Dego, the two recorded an incredible cover of Michael Jackson’s “I Can’t Help It”.

Mark de Clive-Lowe promises an official release of this tune later this year on yet another project they’re working on together, but for now you can enjoy the snippet below.

A while back the news surfaced that Nature Sounds will be releasing a brand new J Dilla LP executive produced by Maureen “Ma Dukes” Yancey on June 2nd. The album, Jay $tay Paid, is 25 tracks deep mixed and arranged by none other than Dilla’s musical idol Pete Rock. Guest appearances include Blu, Pacific Division, DOOM, Havoc, Pharoahe Monch, M.O.P. and Black Thought. Check out “Reality Check” featuring the latter (Thanks to Okayplayer).
