As the Various Assets 2008 compilation is already on the way to a record store near you, Parisien master of not-noise Débruit comes with a beat that sounds like fingers running up and down the spine – the perfect foil for soul freak numero uno Om’Mas (SA-RA Creative Partners) and balladeer boy wonder Jamie Woon to bust a sweat over. Musique large, indeed! Source: RBMA

One of Hiphop’s most underrated producers must be Kev Brown from the Low Budget crew. After Hennessey parts 1 & 2 it’s now time for ya’ll to enjoy part 3. “Hennessey Pt. 3” is from the Random Joints EP and features Kenn Starr, Raheem Devaughn, Eric Roberson and Wayna. “The Random Joint” might be an oldy, but goodie!

The SA-RA Creative Partners™ is a trio of accomplished musicians, producers and trendsetters, comprised of Om’Mas Keith, Taz Arnold and Shafiq Husayn.  On their musical quest they have dazzled with amazing productions, collections, mixes and remixes. But now, for the first time, with Nuclear Evolution: The Age of Love, they deliver a completely new and original album. Built from scratch, it’s a truly coherent and innovative body of work. Musical, adventurous, and even more evolved than anything they’ve done before, Nuclear Evolution also shows a controlled, polished, and in-the-pocket side to their work. It is an album on which SRCP™ shine as the innovative musical force they promised to be, ever since the cult hit “Glorious” first shattered bass bins and minds worldwide. Nuclear Evolution: The Age of Love will be released on June 9th. Ubiquity

It’s been a while since I heard such a warm, soulful and jazzy sound that was concocted so close to where I’m from. The one responsible for this music is Moiano from Belgium (Gent to be precise) and let me tell you…this is real music right here. His new album “2nd Line” (On The Moon records) sounds very authentic and is full of lovely Wurlitzer & Rhodes sounds. The first single is titled “Ethiopics” and my personal favorite track on the album is “Heartbreak”. I’m not gonna go into details too much here, but true connoisseurs will know what the deal is and no doubt they’re going to make this album part of their collection. Ofcourse Belgium’s finest Lefto was the one who tipped us off. Bang distribution is responsible for the distribution so expect to find it in your local record shop or on iTunes real soon.

Now how many people are born with the perfect DJ name? Amsterdam based Turne Edwards aka DJ Turne was one of these lucky dogs. His legendary “Turne it up dillalicious mixtape vol 1” got mad respect from all over the globe and was actually finished the day before Dilla died. If you haven’t played this a million times yet hurry up and get it.

Since it’s spring again (no Biz Markie), Turne decided to bless everyone with a brand new mixtape and we at Moovmnt were down to host it of course. So do yourself and your friends a huge favor and download “Big Guys Need Love 2” if you love that sweet dilladwelelittlebrotherspinnaerykahbaduslumvilld’angelo kinda sound you can vibe to.

Fashionably late we bring you the sexy, curly haired, soul mistress Ayah. This singer/songwriter/composer will be dropping a new album next month entitled “4:15”. I first thought the album would be released April 15th, but now I know this is the time when she is really Ayah. “It’s when I’m home, my glasses are on, I’m wearing sweats, I’m up working on music, or asleep dreaming about it, and I’m around family”. The previously released “Problem Woman Mixtape” can be downloaded HERE for free so I suggest you go check it out immediatly. The bonus tracks on the mixtape are my favorite so we had to share this track Believe with you. Check out the video that Slakah the Beatchild directed right HERE. In Do It All Again Ayah kinda reminds me of Amel Larrieux from Groove Theory (trust me that’s a compliment). Thnx to FWMJ who put us on.

This actually is a late pass, but we think this album didn’t get the attention it deserved. Shouts to Kenny Fresh for the heads up.

Slakah The Beatchild represents the evolution of the enigmatic producer. Five years ago the urban landscape was ruled by the super production gods. Names like Dre, The Neptunes, Timbaland and Dilla (R.I.P.) conjure up visions of walking celestial beings blessing us with musical gems. Then the internet came and completely changed the producer paradigm. In the past the artist/producer title was a choice, now it’s a prerequisite as musicians struggle to stay relevant in the hearts and minds of ‘gimme, gimme’, attention-deficient listeners. If an artist is going to get by in ’09 they have to be a musical multi-tasker and Slakah fits perfectly into that lane. He’s a musical chameleon whose gifts are only truly realized in the presence of other talented artists and musicians. This is why The Soul Movement Vol. 1 is such an effective introduction to this kid’s budding abilities.

Featuring collaborations from the cream of Canada’s burgeoning talent (Drake, Tona, Divine Brown, Shad, Melanie Durrant, Ray Robinson, Ebrahim and so many others) the album is feel-good new soul with enough of a world-inflected influence to keep it fresh. Get your copy over HERE

DC and Philly, stand up! Ne’a Posey, one of the DMV’s rising soul stars, and DJ Lil Dave, a member of Philadelphia’s Illvibe Collective, have teamed up on the track “State of the World,” now available on the Bagpack Selects Vol II compilation from Bagpack Records. Ne’a’s voice rides Dave’s funky broken beat production and makes me eager to hear more from these two. If you’re liking this as much as we’re loving it, then hop on over to Bagpak’s website to purchase it and other tracks from the collection. Credits for this one go to our colleagues at Soulbounce.
