One of Rome’s funkiest bastards I’ve ever met is without a doubt AD Bourke. Adam’s been venturing more and more into the soulful depths of House music, but always with a dash of Funk. His new “Raw Ivy” release was marinating on my HD for a few weeks, but I think it released yesterday. I can only begin to descibe this mini LP as freakin’ awesome, but please don’t take my word and listen to all six tracks on Bleep before you purchase!

Can’t really remember why we never posted about Detroit’s Marcellus Pittman, but we failed to do so up till now. Yesterday I played some Rare Groove Soul stuff at the North Sea Jazz Club (Amsterdam), but found myself playing for an empty venue. Often the best music gets played before it gets crowded. When the people started coming in, they had missed all these little gems I’d been spinning. So I grabbed the first 8 songs and put together a quick mini mix for everybody who missed out last night (being the entire world). Took the liberty of uploading it to Mixcloud so go ahead and stream, share, download and love.
Oh No created an entire album based on samples from Rudy Ray Moore’s Dolemite soundtrack. It’ll be coming out June 5th on the Five Day Weekend label and is exclusively available at the Stones Throw store. Some pretty big names on here such as MF Doom, Evidence, Jose James, Erick Sermon, Phife Dawg, Sticky Fingaz and more. Might be an interesting one for you to peep..
