Now this is the kind of music that we love telling you about. Several weeks ago ATL saxophonist Darryl Reeves released his new Jazz fusion album entitled “Mercury” via Epic Life Music Group. His 2004 “Diary of a Bandstand” album featured the likes of Robert Glasper and now after eight long years, Mr Reeves is back with a very soulful mix of Mercury music. There are a few interpretations of classic Jazz songs such as Donald Byrd’s “Think Twice”, but also some brand new own material that sounds just as amazing. We suggest you get your copy at Mercury - Darryl Reeves without hesitation, after having listened to some streams below of course. [Spotted over at Kevinnottingham]

A very long time ago I was a huge fan of Mad Skillz. This was in a time I used to read the Source magazine to keep myself in the know. Fourteen years after having first encoutered this lyricist from VA, Skillz released his “The Million Dollar Backpack” album. When this dropped in 2008 I kinda slept on it, because there’s this one very nice song on there featuring Common entitled “So Far So Good”. Thought I’d share this one with you all on this Slept on Sundays.

I told ya’ll South East Asia is waking the funk up. A small group of people have been pushing good new music over there and took it upon themselves to bring Opolopo and Amalia to Asia for a tour. To celebrate this Goodnws Peter and Amalia were asked for some musical niceness and behold an exclusive new joint called “Gado Gado Funk”. In case you didn’t know miss Amalia is a food junkie and loves Indonesian cuisine like no other. This delicious dish consists of vegetables covered in peanut sauce. Some righteous food for funkin’! Grab a free download of this while you can over at the Goodnws Soundcloud page.

It is officially time for Belgian producer Adriaan van de Velde aka Pomrad to bewitch you all with his “Vlotjes” EP. This 23-year-old conservatory student is bringing an interesting mix of electronic and funk music to the table and is easily compared with people such as Hudson Mohawke. All I know is that this EP will certainly make a lot of noise and will be available today via Vlotjes - Pomrad and as a limited vinyl edtion (orders@oohwee.be) as well. Oh and make sure you take a look at Pomrad’s promotional video too…after the jump.

Been hearing some great new stuff from producer K15 lately. Personally not a fan of trap music at all, but when I heard his newest work in progress, I was really digging it. Young K15 is from London and I’m pretty sure we’ll be hearing lots more from this talented producer in the near future. Follow him on Soundcloud to keep track and in the meanwhile enjoy two unreleased tracks called “(Time) Humbles All” and “Sudorific Solitude”. You know where you heard it first!

Monsieur Walter Mecca is back with a totally different sound. When comparing his new “Breakingpoint” EP to his last “Tonnerre” project, you can safely say it’s like night and day. Some might need some getting used to, but we’re kinda feeling this laidback mix of Hip Hop and House out on Weirdata.

Miss Julie Dexter collaborated with top notch producer Zo! a few years back. The result was the song “Transitions” which we never posted for some reason. Guess we were a little late back then, but right on time for a Slept on Sundays. Great Soul joint, so kick back and enjoy this one!
