So the second volume of “Worldwide Family” dropped today after having been pushed back. I was in doubt whether or not we should post about this, but the verdict is…yes. Kutmah selected over 20 tracks for you to enjoy, ranging from FlyLo & Samiyam to HudMo & fLako. Overall not the illest compilation on Brownswood, but since I decided I’m flying out to LA again this summer Shash’U’s “LA” convinced me. Now there’s a few songs on there with fellow Canadian Slakah The Beatchild and “No Matter What” is definitely a slept on gem. Just when it seemed as if Jesse Boykins III was losing a little of his soulfness, he teams up with homeboy Full Crate to find it back once again in the form of “See With Me”. Earlier this year (yeah we know, kind of a late pass) miss Cecilia Stalin (of Koop) released her tribute project to John Coltrane. “Step Like A Giant” is her way of reaching out to people that haven’t been introduced to Coltrane’s legendary music yet. Just realized that Hawthorne Headhunters‘ full-length album “Myriad of Now” released today on Plug Research. There’s some nice new music on here as well as some older stuff as well, I remember “Luv Galactic” finding it’s way to us a few years back and I could swear DaM-FunK had a feature on there as well. A song I hadn’t heard before, but immediatly stood out is “Sum People Don’t Change”. Thanks to the good people of Plug Research for giving away “Yellow Cougar” as a free download.
