Miss Ayah and mister Slakah The Beatchild collaborate on something brand new here. Their song “Keep Up” is on a different vibe (a little more pop) then we’re used to, but still sounds fresh though. Somehow this is slightly reminiscent of some MJ Cole meets Jazzanova type of music, but still Slakah at the same time. Imma be honest…sometimes we miss the days of Sa-Ra Creative Partners. As I went through my HD, I came across this old song from Common and Sa-Ra entitled “So Cool”. Almost forgot about Kan Sano‘s “Bha” EP. Almost but not quite! After having put “Sweet Baby” featuring The Funkallero in our last “Glimmering Fractions” mix, how can I not tell you about his EP that came out yesterday? It sounds to me that Kan wanted to experiment a little on this EP, but you tell us what you think about it. It’s available on so take a gander for yourselves.

A few years ago we had a discussion about whether or not we should write about re-released/unreleased boogie records, like this Cyril “Will You Show Up” featuring Marcel Evans. In a way the record itself can be considered as new, but the music is from a different era perhaps. An era we happen to love and cherish, so hell yeah at times we think music like this needs to be heard by a generation that might have missed out on it. Thanks to Peoples Potential Unlimited for pressing this gorgeous song on 7″ vinyl. The song is from Cyril Walker’s forthcoming “Saturday Night” album, but sadly during the making of this record Cyril passed away (December 31, 2010). Rest in peace and may his funk inspire others. A few weeks back, I sent a mix to the homie Keegan from #JusayinRadio that I had especially made for them. They played it on last night’s radio show and New Zealand showed some love I heard. Some beats combined with soulful house are the main ingredients for this one. We heard about Leon Ware coming out with a new song featuring Quadron a few weeks ago. Not much info was available yet, but luckily we found a stream for you on Soundcloud. Later this month “Orchids For The Sun” is coming out on 12″ vinyl on the Los Angeles-based label Quieres Chicle Records. This was destined to be dope if you ask me!

We needed a little extra time to digest this new Pomrad track featuring 9 year old Nelah, but came to the conclusion this needed to be shared. Last week we introduced this new producer hailing from the city of Antwerp. What can we say? This kid has the funk as proven on the instrumental song “Dans” (which means dance). The whole Moovmnt gang is now anxiously awaiting his “Vlotjes” EP coming out on OohWee Records May 11th.

A promise is a promise is a promise! It’s that time of the week again and I’m not talking about church. The third consecutive Slept on Sundays is a fact after a long leave of absence. Today we have an oldie from Innerzone Orchestra featuring Paul Randolph. Their version of “People Make The World Go Round” came out around 2000 on Planet E and contained a few remixes from J88, Ta’Raach and Kenny Dixon Jr. We thought we’d share the J88 remix with you since it’s down right nasty!
