We told you about Jose James‘ “Blackmagic” album and yes it’s almost out! It has productions on it by Taylor McFerrin, DJ Mitsu the Beats and of course Flying Lotus. Go check out the album for yourself and pay extra attention to tracks like “Code” and “Made For Love” (both produced by FlyLo) and “Electromagnetic” (Japan only!) featuring Ben Westbeech + TK Wonder. Pre-order now through our friends at Rushhour.

respx to jose james for trying something different. i didnt feel his first album at all though and frankly these tunes dont do it for me either. the tunes he did with timo lassy on the other hand was wicked. its pure jazz but hopefully modern day beatheads can enjoy that still. would be nice to hear him try out some more uptempo tracks. will check the new album for that. hopefully ill be suprised, in a good way.

As a vocalist i’m not feelin son. He’s just ok. But I must admit the cut he did with Mitsu The Beats “promise in love” knocks 4 dayz.

these tracks aren’t about the strength of either the vocals or production alone. the whole is greater than the sum of its parts. it lets you just drift into this strange little slice of ecstasy.
i feel you rnb – beatheads need to get into some jazz. old or new.
thanks for the newest tracks!
