We last heard from Tanya Morgan on 2010′s “The Sandwich Shop”, which featured them over the infamous The Roots’ “Sandwiches”. In the meantime Ilyas has officially left the group in order to pursue other things, so Von Pea & Donwill decided it was time for a re-introduction. The new EP “You & What Army” features 9 tracks with the bulk of the production handled by Von Pea alongside fellow Lessondary member Aeon, Astronote and Exile. Guest appearances come from Lessondary members Che Grand and Jermiside as well as a special appearance by Exile on the aforementioned Exile-produced track “Together”. You can grab the EP for FREE or choose to support the guys by getting it in combination with a limited edition t-shirt at Tanya Morgan‘s Bandcamp. Either way, don’t pass on reading Von Pea’s in depth liner notes for the project.

A few days ago Median‘s “The Sender” album came out on Foreign Exchange Music. Production-wise it’s a great line up with 9th Wonder, Khrysis, Kev Brown, Black Milk, Astronote & S1. Vocally it features Phonte, Bahamadia, Sy Smith & YahZarah. All in all good recipe for a more than decent album. Personal two favorite picks would be “Special” and “Kiss The Sky”. Ann Arbor’s Gameboi is only 15 years old and already the kid has an EP out produced by Astronote and 14KT. His debut release “Freshman of the Year” EP features Rapper Big Pooh and L05 and is fresh if you ask me. Especially when you think about where this cat might be going in the next few years. French hiphop producer Astronote has been making quite some noise these past few years. I remember his remix for Mayer Hawthorne, which was later included on the album and eversince I’ve been hearing banging beats here and there. To get in that L.A. vibe, here’s a fresh new Shawn Jackson joint of his upcoming “Brand New Old Me” album. Shawn gets a little help from people like Co$$, Thurzday (U-N-I) and JimiJames. On the productional side look out for ppl like Cook Classics, Astronote, Tony Ozier, Knxwledge and Beat Maker Beat. The title song was produced by Cook and we’ll drop that on a later note. I believe a video of “Lil Big Man” will be shot in a few weeks, so keep an eye out for that as well.
