The third edition of The Gardens is a special one. Our friends Full Crate & FS Green have recently released their Hi-Hat Club Vol. 5: Eggs And Pancakes album on Melting Pot Music and this needed to be celebrated. I’d like to thank the guys from Cologne for last weeks release party in Germany and this Friday it’s time for the Amsterdam release party at the Bitterzoet. Not only will you be hearing the album through some bad ass speakers, but there will also be a limited amount of vinyl available for a special price. So come on over to support and get loose.

The homie Myele from Electric Wire Hustle informed me that they will be playing in Amsterdam on Monday 19th at the Sugar Factory. In case you’re not hip to these New Zealand cats yet, check out their epk (via BBE) and rehearsal video shot at the RBMA studio in London (presented by Pinboard) below. BBE is also re-releasing EWH’s debut selftitled album in a few weeks and I’m hoping for some vinyl.

And Suff Daddy ain’t no greedy man. On his new record, he shares his music with friends like Miles Bonny, Fleur Earth, Mariama, Mar and Jim Dunloop. We call “The Gin Diaries” a beat novel, consisting of 13 musical short stories. Some have lyrics and some have not but they are all snaphots of the life of Suff Daddy. “Özdemir” speaks about Suff’s penchant for Turkish breaks, “Vienna” reflects on a recent trip to Vienna and “Konnopke” is giving props to the best currywurst in Berlin. I remember I had a conversation with Mar last week, and I said that “I Said” was my least favorite track on the EP. Well I think I need to take that back after seeing the video. Full Crate & Mar once again proved that visuals can add a new dimension to audio, cause this video is exactly what the song needed. If you haven’t bought this one yet…here you go !!

Deluge and me just came back from Joya Mooi‘s album pre-listening party at MC. Late as usual we missed the whole shebang, but still got to chill with Full Crate, Mar, SirOJ, Joya, Yoji and miss Mountainwoodfor a minute. I had heard an early leak of “When I Take A Step Back” (produced by Presto) and was semi impressed at the time. After having heard the rest of the album I can truly say this…I’m a fan of miss Mooi! Not because she has the looks, not because she’s a nice person, but because I truly admire the way she comes across as an artist.
One of my favorites is the duet with Mar called “My Day”. Her debut album “Hard Melk” is a soundtrack for the new theater play BH and features almost every single Dutch producer you’d want on your album. Just to name a few: SirOJ, Presto, Hayzee, Wan, Dub Spensa and Crate who kinda put everything together musically. You can check out the entire album over HERE and view her video after the jump. A while ago we posted some mystery snippets and most of you immediatly guessed who this artists was. Indeed we were talking about Coultrain who is dropping a brand new 7″ on Recordbreakin Februari 23rd. Enough with the clues and guessing…here’s some solid info on Coultrain’s first solo release since his self-released debut “The Adventures Of Seymour Liberty” produced by multi-instrumentalist, I, CED of Hawthorne Headhunters.
Finally some real soul music, because honestly 2009 was kinda low on soul. Thank god for releases like this and Full Crate & Mar‘s “Conversations With Her”. Loving this sneak-peak and I’m curious about Coultrain’s forthcoming full-length album, the next full chapter in the Seymour Liberty trilogy, to be released by Fresh Selects later this year. “The Wanderer” b/w “Balancing Act” drops February 23rd on Recordbreakin on both 7″ vinyl & digital and can be pre-ordered HERE.
