It’s a well known fact I like that Modern Funk so I thought it was only fitting to share my love with the rest of the world. Last month the legendary Gil Scott Heron passed away. As a tribute Paris based vocalist Sandra Nkaké created “A Place for You”, based on Gil’s cover of “Inner City Blues”. It features Jean Phi Dary on rhodes, Antoine Berjeaut on trumpet, Matthieu Ouaki on guitar, Jî Drû on flute and Sandra herself on vocals. Sandra also asked Mark de Clive-Lowe amongst others to remix the song as part of their tribute. You can find the remixes and ofcourse the original over here for FREE. Enjoy!

Tokyo Dawn is back with another great release. The German-based production and DJ collective SoulParlor is about to release their “Evoluzion” album, which spelled bacwards reads ‘Noiz U Love’. Fully loaded with 19 tracks, it manages to cross several musical genres while staying hella fresh throughout. Highly suitable for DJ’s as well since Evoluzion contains a few heavy dancefloor hitters.
Expect guest vocals from the likes of Oddisee, Replife, Cecilia Stalin (Koop), Colonel Red, Jacob And The Appleblossom (Wagner Love) and more. One of my favorite Frenchies must be the homie Onra. He just put a brand new demo on his Soundcloud which we’d “L.O.V.E” to share with you. Yesterday I saw Mark de Clive-Lowe put up a sneak preview of his upcoming “Leaving This Planet” EP, but I was too tired to post. So I woke up this morning to find the EP in my inbox..so here is a sneak peak. Exclusively available as digital download via Mashi’s Bandcamp on Monday. A while ago we met up with Zed “Maddslinky” Bias at the Sound Gallery in Amsterdam. He was so kind to do a one hour mix for our Moovmnt Radio show filled with exclusives and sneak previews.
