Perhaps the best MC at this point in time, Elzhi, just dropped his highly anticipated “Elmatic” project which is of course a tribute to one the best MC’s of my time..Nas. Usually I hate tribute projects, because 99 times out of 100 they’re just wack and add nothing to the original. When I heard “Detroit State of Mind” I was just blown away. Not only does Elzhi add his own twist lyrically. Production-wise The Will Sessions Band also adds their own kinda flavor to the project which makes it extra nice in my opinion. I suggest you treat your ears to some lyrical niceness and download the FREE mixtape over at XXLmag (low bitrate) or in 320 quality HERE.

So Black Milk‘s album has been out for two week alread. Better late than never I guess. Allthough “Album of The Year” is nothing mindblowin’, I still believe it’s a good album with some solid joints on it. My pick is “Over Again” Ft. Monica Blaire and I suggest you go give it a listen. Check out for a digital copy or pick up the CD or vinyl over at Rush Hour.

Next month Black Milk‘s highly anticipated “Album of The Year” is due to hit streets. Other than the heavy contributions from both members of his live band (vocalist/keyboardist AB and drummer Daru Jones), the album exclusively features players and vocalists from his hometown of Detroit. Vocalist Melanie Rutherford, bassist Tim Shellaberger, and the versatile horn player and string arranger Sam Beaubien (who arranged horns and strings on Mayer Hawthornes “A Strange Arrangement”) are just a few names. Peep the latest “Deadly Medley” video featuring Royce Da 5’9 and Elzhi and pre-order the CD via Fatbeats while you’re at it.
This Friday Today eLZhi from Slum Village, drops his “The Leftovers Unmixedtape”. This free release is available via eLZhi.com as we speak, so get your ass over to his website for a free meal! The album features Rapper Big Pooh, Phat Kat and Royce Da 5’9. On the production tip it, this album is even more impressive. Oh No, Black Milk, DJ Spinna, Jake One and DJ Dez are the big names production wise. Raw, unmixed…boomin’ through your speakers.

After being shot in the head and losing a fiance to suicide Vstylez has stayed persistant in the pursuit of his dreams. He began recording his solo project “Masterpiece Theater” with additional scores by DJ DEZ (Slum Village) and MoSS. “Clash of the Titans” has a sick line-up and MoSS did a hell of a job on the production. It’s Hiphop like we used to listen to back in the days…quality. Together with Buff1 and Stretch Money V gives us “Can’t Stop a Man” which is just as impressive and was produced by DJ DEZ. Listen for yourself and pass judgement. Thnx to DetroitRap
