I saw this bad ass Opolopo remix of Tomson and Benedict‘s “Blind” come by earlier today. It features Bantu Soul and comes with some very promising remixes by Alton Miller and Opolopo. Bought my copy of Fatima‘s “Follow Me”EP last week and again Eglo Records is bringing out something I just have to spend my money on. This time it’s a Floating Points release coming out next week including two brand new tracks. The b-side is called “Faruxz” which is a bit more mellowed out and kinda spacey at the same time. More uptempo and suitable for the dance floor is Sam’s “Marilyn”. This one is going to knock your socks off…just check this snippet!

It is told that he died every dusk, had to fight the dark forces of the underworld and bring light to the dead souls as he passed through – just to be reborn in the morning. Just like the sun god fLako uses ‘The Mesektet’ to end the cycle of darkness and prepare for his own rebirth, marking the end of an era in his style of production and move forward into new musical directions, which he already started to explore on his ‘Mini Toolbooth EP’. This release includes a collection of previously unreleased or only digitally available works from the time up until 2008. The artwork was created by surrealistic painter Dan May and this 2 x 12″ will be out May 6 on Project Mooncircle.

Miss Amalia has both the Fonk as well as the looks. This beautiful female vocalist from Sweden (by way of Vancouver) is soon to drop her solo album “Art Slave” on Tokyo Dawn Records. Her better half, Opolopo, put some previews online so I wanted to share one with you entitled “All The Funk I Need”. Just got the entire album and it’s straight up bangin’. I’m not even playing around, because whenever Nev hits me back with ‘I didn’t know people still make music this good’ you know it’s serious. This will be one of those albums you won’t forget any time soon. Nice guest productions from Atjazz and last year’s RBMA participant Ad Bourke. So keep your ears on this lady…March 4th!

The slick Soul singer who we’ve all come to know as Mayer Hawthorne over the past few years is back with another amazing single “I Need You”. This 12-inch record will be released later this summer on Stones Throw Records and was produced by none other than Nottz. I’m affraid this guy is steadily getting to become one of my favorite producers. His album is going to blow a lot of people away I think, including me. “I Need You” is already available for pre-order at Rush Hour and apparently we’re dealing with some sort of special etched vinyl.
