The slick Soul singer who we’ve all come to know as Mayer Hawthorne over the past few years is back with another amazing single “I Need You”. This 12-inch record will be released later this summer on Stones Throw Records and was produced by none other than Nottz. I’m affraid this guy is steadily getting to become one of my favorite producers. His album is going to blow a lot of people away I think, including me. “I Need You” is already available for pre-order at Rush Hour and apparently we’re dealing with some sort of special etched vinyl.

Brooklyn-based Machinedrum is hard to describe and ranges from four to the floor electronic music with heavy synths to funky soulfull beats that Jesse Boykins can sing to. On his new “Many Faces” EP, which is being released through LuckyMe, he shows a side that I personally haven’t seen/heard before. I only heard a few songs from Jesse’s upcoming album, but never knew this producer was so versatile. Perhaps it’s best described as innovative club music, but you have to be open to new sounds and harmonies.

Fat City is back with another one. dBridge‘s remix of Blackpocket‘s “Ur A Sta” is finally seeing the light of day. It’ll be out on 10″ vinyl including the instrumental. Also look out for the original from Blackpocket on the forthcoming Producer#1 double vinyl repress.

Last week we bumped into our sista from another mista at the Red Bull Music Academy while she was working on a big tune with Hudson Mohawke and Dorian Concept. She had just picked up a few copies of the new Mind Travellin’ EP and we wanted to buy the first copies and show some support. Like true groupies we even asked for an autograph and that was that! Today the vinyl officially dropped worldwide and we urge everyone to pick up a copy HERE. Not only because Fatima is one of the nicest people we know, but also because her music is f*cking amazing. Nev’s favourite joint is “Soul Glo” and when I tried to sing it together with Fatima I failed miserably. Therefore my fav is “Warm Eyes” which features Dam-Funk. Finally a new release from Eric Lau named “Kilawatt: V2″. This is something I’ve anxiously been waiting for. His debut album “New Territories” came out almost two years ago and was undoubtably one of the most slept on albums of it’s time. Again Eric seems to amaze the sh*t out of my by dropping four preview tracks via his Bandcamp. Now usually I’m not used to loving every single track, but these four joints sound extremely promising! Haven’t heard Muhsinah sing like this in a while and Kaidi rips the shit out of this track. The track with Oddisee is also heavy as f*ck and reminds me of some good old Little Brother ish. In other words…better save up for Kilawatt: V2 cuz this is going to be one of those album you gotta have.

Now this is one of those albums that I’ve really been looking forward to hear. Straight from Japan it’s Gagle that is about to release their epic “Slow But Steady” album on Jazzy Sport records September 16th. No full review yet, but just some snippets to keep ya’ll hungry.
