I remember buddy Bravo telling me about DâM-FunK hitting him up for some exclusives for this mix he was doing for Mary Anne Hobbs. A month later here it is and at the same time we say farewell to Mary Anne as she is leaving BBC1 for good. Of course a lot of unreleased music from Ad Bourke, Teeko, B. Bravo and the master of Funk himself. So sit back and enjoy this “The Future Sound of Modern Funk” mix and download it HERE. Frisco’s Low Limit is also known as one half of the formation Lazersword. What a coincidence I was just talking about these guys earlier today and I heard they have a new project coming up on Innovative Leisure. Sneak a peak HERE to see the artwork for their upcoming single “Batman”. Anyways…“Trapper Keeper” has been out for a minute, but the video was released a few days ago. No doubt Bryant is in the face melting business and this video proves it.
The ambassador of boogie funk – DâM-FunK – is dropping another hot 12-inch EP on us with vocal versions of “Hood Pass Intact” featuring MC Eiht and “4 My Homies” featuring Steve Arrington (of Slave). Rounding out the four-track Hood Pass Intact are contributions from Devonwho on the instrumental re-edit of Toeachizown’s “Come On Outside” and JT Donaldson and TK co-producing the non-album single “How It Be Between U & Me?”. Keep an eye out for this late summer release on Stones Throw. Dam-Funk – Hood Pass Intact Ft. MC Eiht

The second taster from Paul White’s new album “Paul White & The Purple Brain” is a here and features Detroit’s heavy-hitting MC Guilty Simpson. On “Ancient Treasure” he rips the shit out of this joint and Paul instantly responded with two killer remixes to turn what was supposed to be a bonus 45 cut into a fully-fledged single. Free download of the original version of “Ancient Treasure” at hi-res via Bandcamp or just spend a couple of bucks to get them all. This 12″ will be available as a bonus 3rd disc with the first 500 copies of the “Paul White & The Purple Brain” 2LP. Big ups One-Handed & Stones Throw.. Last week Dãm-Funk was our guest at the MiNiBAR and Joao Costa was so nice to make a nice little video of him performing “Killdat” live with vocals. A whole lot more collaborations are to come later this year. Very curious about the project with Steve Arrington and about how the whole Master Blazter project is going to develop itself. Also enjoy some FREE Funk… Audio clip: Adobe Flash Player (version 9 or above) is required to play this audio clip. Download the latest version here. We told you last week that Stones Throw’s ambassador of Boogie Funk is back in Amsterdam this Friday. Before the clock strikes midnight L.A.’s very own Dãm-Funk will be at the MiNiBAR to give ya’ll a taste of that Funk. An intimate signing session will take place, so bring your vinyl or CD if you want an autograph. Stick around for a while and hear Dãm-Funk play a couple of records to get you in the mood. Don’t expect a whole set, because he’s saving that for Boogie Bash at the Paradiso later that night. If you were wondering what you were doing Friday night after 1pm…now you know. KC The Funkaholic was so nice to give us a couple of guestlist spots to give away via Moovmnt and all you need to do is follow THIS LINK and invite a few friends. Also leave a comment with your very first encounter with Dãm-Funk’s music. Where were you when you first heard it? How did you hear about him? What went through your mind when you heard his music for the first time? The most original answers (read hot females) will be contacted. As if Boogie Bash isn’t enough, you can also enjoy the crazy sounds of Brainfeeder’s very own Mothaf*ckin’ Gaslamp Killer upstairs in the main room at MOSH!. Buy tickets online to make sure you get in where you fit in.
Stones Throw’s Abassador of Boogie Funk Dãm-Funk did a bangin’ ass cover of “The Things Dreams Are Made Of” by synth-pop band The Human League. Eventhough today is April Fools’ the following is no joke. Shoe brand Dr. Martens celebrates it’s 50-year-anniversary and for this special occasion the brand asked ten modern-day producers to remake a cult classic in their own style. All tracks come with a videoclip and man is this one crazy! FREE download of course.. As if this wasn’t enough…Dãm-Funk will be performing at Boogie Bash on April 9th. KC the Funkaholic is bringing back the Boogie so get your ass over to the Paradiso next week. In addition Damon will also be dropping by the MiNiBAR earlier that evening to give ya’ll a taste of what the night at Boogie Bash has in store for you. Bring your marker and your entire Dãm-Funk collection to get everything autographed by the master of Funk himself. More info on Boogie Bash next week.. Whilst cruisin’ the web, I came across this live footage of Dam-Funk’s “Killdat” with the entire Master Blazter crew. Now this is what we’ve been wanting to see! Some live ass shit with Computer Jay on the keys, J1 on the drums and homegirl JIMIJAMES on the vocals. Bring that shit over to Amsterdam my friends…we’re ready for that ish!! |
