We find some mutated funk from Amalia, Gregory Porter, Leon King, Union, Colonel Red and Lisa P. The list of features is also quite long with artists such as Amalia, Talib Kweli, Ursula Rucker and Erik Rico. Time to get your mutant on and grab the CD over at the TDR shop or if you prefer.

Now I never knew Actual Proof was one of Opolopo‘s aliases, but it makes sense. This new “The Grit” EP contains three songs you wouldn’t really expect from Opo. The sound is more nu disco with a Detroit touch, but still very fresh. If I had to pick I’d got for the original mix of the energetic “Hubble”. The “En Kärlekshistoria” EP is the result of two guys from Crenshaw and Slauson coolin’ out in Stockholm for twelve days. TiRon & Ayomari decided to release this Swedish love story, produced by the Sum Comfort Food duo. So appropriately (on Midsummer’s Eve) we bring you this EP as a Moovmnt exclusive. It features the lovely Seinabo Sey on the vocals and is just a warmup, because the guys from LA are also dropping another project called “A Sucker For Pumps” later this summer. Miss Amalia has both the Fonk as well as the looks. This beautiful female vocalist from Sweden (by way of Vancouver) is soon to drop her solo album “Art Slave” on Tokyo Dawn Records. Her better half, Opolopo, put some previews online so I wanted to share one with you entitled “All The Funk I Need”. Just got the entire album and it’s straight up bangin’. I’m not even playing around, because whenever Nev hits me back with ‘I didn’t know people still make music this good’ you know it’s serious. Swedish producer Erik L is back again with the fourth release on Soularp Records. This time in collaboration with Jackson, MS emcee 7even:Thirty . Erik L is known for his soulful and funk driven instrumental music, but also his work with the groups Favorite Flava and Supersci as well as artists like Frank n Dank and Cerebral Vortex to name a few. He plays a mixture of live instruments to attain his characteristic harmonic style. When miss Fatima (Eglo Fam) was in Rotterdam last year, I asked her which female vocalists she really liked. She told me that her half sister (who she met at a very late stage in her life) turned out to be a fantastic singer. I thought she was pulling my chain, but the plot thickens. Young Swedish Seinabo is actually a very dope vocalist and she’s getting ready to dazzle the world.
