Mr Oizo – Rubber (Flying Lotus Unprotected Sex Remix)
[audio:http://www.moovmnt.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/07/Rubber-Flying-Lotus-_Unprotected-Sex_-Mix.mp3]Label troubles with both Young Money and No Limit caused this talented New Orleans MC to see his debut studio album to face delay after delay. It actually got to the point that Curren$y was no longer affiliated with those two crews and found himself instead releasing a steady stream of mixtapes. And it was not until 2009 that he finally made his debut with the appropriately titled This Ain’t No Mixtape. While his mixtape game didn’t slow down, he began also focusing on his proper studio records, such as Pilot Talk, his first album due out on the Blu Roc label. As the title implies, Curren$y’s still got a thing for getting high and rapping about it. After the jump you can watch the video of the second single “Roasted”. Pilot Talk drops July 17th. Prefix

Buffed by adulation from all corners of the industry and backed with remixes from Hud Mo, Ikonika & Optimum, Machine Drum, and Falty DL, American Men deliver their first five tracks of Miami-lazer-rock for Lucky Me. The Glaswegian group comprise three members of the short lived Russia outfit and a current member of the hotly tipped Dananananaykroyd supergroup, playing a canny fusion of complex Math Rock and arcade game melodies. The remixes range from Ikonika and Optimum’s 8-bit Funky ride to Falty DL’s febrile beat collage and a boldly epic recomposition from Hud Mo. Get it now on Boomkat. Thanks to Perf10.

The Red Bull Music Academy is dropping the “Various Assets London 2010” compilation album on July 19th. If you don’t know the deal yet, check out this previous post and educate yourself. We remember this year’s Academy as if it was yesterday and we’d like to give a big fat shout out to all the participants we met, hung out with and befriended. Can’t stress enough what a fantastic project this is and topping it off with a compilation album is the right way to do it.

Bravo, Myele Manzanza, Ad Bourke, Swede:art and a whole lot more on there, you know it gotsta be funky. Reserve some space on your harddrive for this FREE high bitrate (320) release. This year they celebrate their 10 year anniversary and escpecially for creators of music, Appelsap has come up with the concept “Make a living, making music”. Next week three events will take place where young, talented producers (between the age of 16 and 26) are welcome to learn and create. Check out the details below..
Monday July 12th a meeting will take place at production company Sizzer. They will explain what kind of commercials they exactly do and how producing music for commercials exactly works. Here you’ll get a briefing about how to produce a track for the “Appelsap 10 Years Commercial” (shot by “Opslaan als”) and you will be guided by Sizzer as well. These guys have received several awards for their music productions including a Golden Lion in Cannes.
Location: Houtkopersdwarsstraat 3
Time: 16.00-18.00Wednesday July 14th Ivo Bol will give a workshop about the use of the junXion software developed by Steim. JunXion is a Mac OSX data routing application that can process ‘sensors’ from any HID (joysticks, mice, touchscreens), MIDI, OSC, Audio, Arduino and Video device using conditional processing and remapping, with MIDI or OSC events as its output. The workshop will be focussed on the use of JunXion to use USB and Wii controllers as mid-controllers in combination with music or VJ hardware/software (like Ableton). In a hands-on session we’ll basically learn how to use game controllers as musical instruments. Bring your own Mac with prefered software and headphones with you. If you have any USB game controllers (joysticks) or Wii controllers bring them as well so you can put together a next level ‘live-performance’.
Location: Overtoom 301 (in the Cinema, 2nd floor)
Time: 12.00-15.00
Bring: Game controllers (USB), Mac platform with music software (if you do not have this, let us know well in advance), headphone.Friday July 16th a Q&A will take place with Chilean producer fLako, how resides in Londen at the moment. This young producer recently took the step to make a living with making music. After the meet and greet we will listen to all your creations for the “Appelsap 10 years Commercial” and the winner will be announced. The winner will be rewarded the junXion Software and eternal fame of course.
Location: Club-up
Time: 21.30-23.00 (followed up by Poespas party with live-set by fLako)
Bring: Laptop
We would like to invite you to join us and sign up for these three workshops by sending an email (containing your name + contact info) to lynn@appelsap.net. Producers who want to participate in all three workshops have priority over the rest. Make sure you reply before friday, because there’s only a limited amount of participants. In the meanwhile enjoy this joint of the Beatnicks Vol. 3 release.
