Fellow bloggers Gavin from Jus Like Music and Johanna from Apple Juice Break put their heads together to bring us the first part of the “Oscillations” series. Our homie Bluntspeakers donated “1000 Miles” and BUG handed in “Indica”. Both fine examples of what good music should sound like. Get your FREE download on and visit this Bandcamp. Peep the full tracklist after the jump..

Only Mountain is the newest release from L.A.-based beat producer Take. He was prominently featured on seminal releases such as From L.A. With Love, Flying Lotus L.A EP 3, and this year’s All City 10-inch. Take is really pushing the boundaries of the beat scene on Only Mountain, so it might take a few listens for me to really get it. Right now I can say “Neon Beams” and “Juniper” obviously stood out as the most brilliant tracks on the album. Only Mountain will be released on April 20th on Alpha Pup.

For over a decade, Jneiro Jarel (aka Dr. Who Dat?) has provided listeners with an unbelievably eclectic mix of sounds ranging from hip hop, to electronica, to Brazilian funk, to bass music. Often being described as “experimental” and “psychedelic”, Jarel simply calls it “The Viberian Experience”. On the Android Love Mayhem EP you can hear the progress/change in JJ’s sound since Three Piece Puzzle and other former releases. I still don’t know if this is positive or negative, but all I know is that Jneiro is constantly evolving. The EP will be releases on April 13th on Label Who.

On this, his first solo album, Erik L plays every instrument himself whether it is an array of synthesizers, electric bass or laying down some nasty drum patterns. Containing very little sampling, bass heavy funk and electric soul is the base for this musical expedition. You will also recognize Erik L’s unique harmonic style, where paralells could be drawn to Nordic folk songs or even the classical European or Russian music tradition. A sound, established on the well received Favorite Flava album and tracks like Soul Symphony and Love Of Music, supported by influential minds like Benji B, Gilles Peterson, Jay Scarlett & Ennio Styles to name a few. Guest appearances by Frank n Dank, Cerebral Vortex, Paul Mac Innes & Stray. Available NOW on Soularp Records.

In the meanwhile Saukrates is finishing up his “Season One” album. If you ask me it’s about time that we brought back our Slept on Sundays again after hearing two Saukrates joints, one old (thnx to Ourmanhenri) and one new (thnx to FWMJ).
Remember how this Canadian cat used to drop classics like “Father Time” and how ridiculously epic the “Brick House” EP was? For those who aren’t pre-historic like me just check out what Saukrates was dropping about six months ago in the form of “Hot Like Summer” featuring the incredibly hot Andreena Mill. The second song, “Soaring To Heaven Pt.2” was produced by Rich Kidd and man is this a killer production!

Sexy soulstress Erykah Badu is back with a brand new album entitled “New Amerykah pt. 2: Return of the Ankh” and it’s hella good. She really got us worried when that joint with Lil Wayne leaked, but thank god that isn’t on the album. When “Window Seat” leaked I knew this was going to be like old times. Probably the best Nu-Soul album I’ve heard in a while and even if she did cover Sylvia Striplin‘s “You Can’t Turn Me Away”…it’s all good. Miss Erykah can get away with stuff like that, because she drops songs like “Love” and “Fall In Love” on Return of the Ankh. Been a long time since I’ve bought an album, but this is a birthday present I wouldn’t mind getting. Is there anyone who’s still looking to buy me a gift? It was my birthday yesterday and I am quite a nice guy. I suggest you start supporting wonderful music like this and BUY yourself a copy whether it be on CD, vinyl or ![]()

One of our favourite MC’s from L.A. – Dom Kennedy – just dropped a brand new FREE album entitled “From The Westside With Love” which consists out of 16 tracks. This third release sounds so damn good featuring DeShay, L.A.U.S.D., Overdoz, Skeme & Polyester. Shit makes me wanna move to Cali to catch some of dem vibes. Perhaps it’s best described as that laidback shit that gets you inclined to unwind. Shout out to ya boy P and lets hope we can get Dom out to Amsterdam this summer. Download it HERE..

My man Aimé Cain hit me up with a little something yesterday. Together with Bluntspeakers he had been working on “The L’s Heart U” EP for a little bit since it was postponed from it’s original February release date. The EP features 5 brand new Bluntspeakers produced tracks, all featuring Aimé on the vocals, with cover artwork done by yours truly. Download it for free here.
