Now this is the kind of music that we love telling you about. Several weeks ago ATL saxophonist Darryl Reeves released his new Jazz fusion album entitled “Mercury” via Epic Life Music Group. His 2004 “Diary of a Bandstand” album featured the likes of Robert Glasper and now after eight long years, Mr Reeves is back with a very soulful mix of Mercury music. There are a few interpretations of classic Jazz songs such as Donald Byrd’s “Think Twice”, but also some brand new own material that sounds just as amazing. A very long time ago I was a huge fan of Mad Skillz. This was in a time I used to read the Source magazine to keep myself in the know. Fourteen years after having first encoutered this lyricist from VA, Skillz released his “The Million Dollar Backpack” album. When this dropped in 2008 I kinda slept on it, because there’s this one very nice song on there featuring Common entitled “So Far So Good”. Thought I’d share this one with you all on this Slept on Sundays.

Dutch production trio, The Pilots, is working on their debut album coming out on the Russian Ritmo Sportivo label this summer. And what better way to introduce the world to your sound than to drop a dope video…right? The official videoclip for the track “Q&A” (Question & Answer) dropped just now and will take you on a journey through the thoughts and believes of these three young producers.

You might remember us posting about @peace a while back. Well the fellas from Home Brew released a brand new self titled album last week. Not trying to sound like a broken record here, but Mez is delivering some sweet stuff once again. His latest collaboration with miss Soia is entitled “Lost in Memory” and displays that warm yet raw Vienna sound that caresses the ears. Thanks to both this one is available as a free download on Mez’s Soundcloud page. We’re ready for Mez to step it up even another notch though, cuz there is even more hidden in this talented producer.

Here we have the first single off Freddie Joachim’s upcoming “Fiberglass Kisses” album. The song “Keep Lovin’” features Carlitta Durand on the vocals and also contains a remix by Eric Lau. Look for the single to hit the stores May 7th via Mellow Orange.

Oh snap! I thought DJ Mitsu The Beats‘ new “Beat Installments” project was coming out later this month, but it turns out is was released last week on Jazzy Sport. Here we have a very nice collection of instrumental tracks ranging from hip hop beats to soulful house music. Don’t sleep on this one, cuz there’s a few gems in here you shouldn’t be sleeping on! You might have heard me playing a joint of this album on our latest “Glimmering Fraction” mix and in case you were wondering, this albums is available on .

DJ Mitsu The Beats – Change

For this weeks Slept on Sunday I decided to go back a few months instead of years. Personally I was a little late with Ski Beatz‘ “24 Hour Karate School Presents: Twilight” and decided not to post it. A few months later, I have to admit that there are a couple of songs on this album that deserve extra attention. A favorite of ours is “Fly By” featuring Curren$y, but we can’t forget about tracks like “Living It Up” with that extra thick bassline courtesy of Brady Watt.

Melbourne’s Illy & M-Phazes will be reworking well known songs from all corners of the music spectrum. Each of these “Friday Flips” will be built from songs suggested by the audience. Very dope initiative, simply because the way Phazes flips some cheesy sounding Dubstep song by Skrillex called “Rock ‘N’ Roll” is just bananas.
