Monomite is a twenty-two-year-old producer / bass player originating from Paris. As a kid he used to listen to his parents records, while his brother was listening to a wide variety of different genres like Punk, Metal or Drum and Bass.

While his family nurtured his love for music, his extended family Beat x Changers nurtured the love for House music and Dance in particular. He soon discovered he wanted to produce and record his own music. It was this desire that drove him to making beats. Monomite is also a part of the Tech House group called Pulkone and you might have heard him feature on DOC Mastermind’s 1985 album last year.

Monomite is getting ready to release his brand new “Space Time Body and Soul” EP. We are very glad to premiere the uptempo track “Innocence”, which is perhaps best described as a funky space ride with elements of Broken Beat, dripping with Jazzy nastyness! The EP will be available digitally and on 12″ vinyl February 16th. It can be pre-ordered on Bandcamp and will also be available through Juno and Deck.

This week seems to be a one filled with love and music. Big homey G from Cosmonostro introduced us to two brothers, who are originally from Mongolia. They live in Russia now and go by the name of Araatan.

Somehow it all adds up when you think about it for a second. I mean I love coffee and beats. So why am I not surprised that when we asked to premiere Araatan’s track called Coffee, I said yes right away. The siblings gained millions of plays on Youtube thanks to their fair share of successful collaborations with Russian rappers of the first magnitude. On their “Aurora” EP they put more emphasis on the electronic side of things.

This Saturday, on Valentine’s Day, the EP sees it’s official release. Pre-orders are available on the Araatan Bandcamp page.

K15 is a familiar name. One that has been written about in the past on numerous occasions. This talented producer from London is about to release yet another record and it’s our pleasure to inform you about it.

After having released an amazing record on Kyle Hall’s Wild Oats label, K15 now gets ready to release his  3-track “Mist” EP on No Room For Air. The title track is simply amazing and deeply soulful. It almost sounds like Robert Glasper made gentle love to Amerie and recorded to tape!

Fun little fact is that this will be the debut release on Wild Oats’ sister label. Mist will be available from February 16th as a limited 7″ and you might want to pick this up sooner than later. It says these are sold out on the NRFA website, although Juno still has them in stock.

Many moons ago we were buggin’ out to Breezy Lovejoy’s refreshing music. Now a few years later Breezy goes by the name of Anderson Paak, a talented songwriter, drummer, producer and live performer.

He recently released his solo album “Venice” and together with Knxwledge, who’s currently working on an album for Stones Throw Records, he now answers to the name Nxworries. Their brand new track “Suede” is now available for stream on the Stones Throw Soundcloud page, so get ta steppin’. Oh and perhaps you remember hearing DTB some years ago produced by Anderson Paak and Keith Phelps. Nxworries if you haven’t, just make sure you check that out now!

Moglebaum started as a one-man-project some years ago by twenty-two-year-old producer and Jazz pianist Simon Ebener-Holschera. At this moment in time the band consists of five musicians all hailing from Germany.

The name Moglebaum has its origin in the Japanese anime Pokémon, which depicts their fascination for fantasy realms. Their music can best be described as beat-based electronic music mixed with acoustic orchestration. Think playful computer-beats, vocal-samples, synthesizer-sounds, soulful vocals, vibrant violin and sexy saxophone. And get this! Most of the samples are self-made with the help of field recordings of coffee machines, shopping bags or cactuses.

Moglebaum’s “Ozean” project is the first of several EP’s to be released February 16th on French imprint Cosmonostro and I appreciate G always sending me a heads up. It’s a real pleasure for us to premiere the title track of their forthcoming EP, which can be pre-order right here.

Get ready for a lethal collaboration called Lord Julien. The duo Lord Echo aka Mike Fabulous and Julien Dyne from New Zealand are two of the funkiest Kiwi’s in the world and I can’t wait for them to get jammin’ together.

Julien Dyne recently curated the amazing “Conglomerates” compilation on Wonderful Noise and Mike filled our lives with marvelous “Curiosities“. The two have joined forces and as Lord Julien and are about to provide some premium blends of jazzy fusion Funk and disco-primed Deep House. Take a long listen to the A-side entitled “Shades” and write down this release in your agenda.

Somewhere mid March it will be available at selected retailers and trust me this is one of those 12-inches you don’t want to miss out on!

Our friends from Jakarta Records haven’t been sitting still lately. The Winter In Jakarta compilation comes out officially today and it’s a worthy follow-up to the previously released Summer In Jakarta.

My resources tell me Jakarta has been under water for the past three days, so officially I wouldn’t say it’s wintertime. Of course in Germany it’s full on winter, but don’t expect no icey cuts though. Most tracks on this compilation are smoldering and will surely melt your face…guaranteed!

Last week Okayplayer premiered three tracks and today we gladly premiere two more! First one is by one of our favorite Dutch producers Singularis. His laid back funk cut called “Island” is super groovy and will make plenty of heads nod. Suff Daddy‘s “Pumpin Like Reeboks” comes so damn hard it knocks your teeth right back into your throat. Wish I had a 4 minute version of this, but I guess I will just have to abuse the replay button.

Take a listen to both track below and download Winter In Jakarta for free. Also keep your eyes open for the free cassette tape edition available from selected retailers.

Blvnt Records is an independent Hiphop label / collective out of Ann Arbor and Chicago. We’ve been following them for a minute and are glad they have just released their “The Blvnt Compilation“.

The collective consists out of a gang of producers. To give you an idea, here’s a few of our favorites. Harris Cole, C Y G N, IanEwing and Fitzroy are without a doubt talented producers that you should check out. Of course don’t let us guide you too much and make sure you grab a super affordable download (by visiting the Blvnt Records Bandcamp page) of the compilation so you can hear for yourself.

What is it about Canada? For some strange reason a lot of the new talents have been coming out of Toronto, Montreal or Vancouver lately. Perhaps it’s simply Canada’s time to shine?!

One of these up-and-coming young artists is a JAHKOY. This artist slash songwriter, hailing from Toronto, has been making quite some noise lately…the good kind. Quite recently he visited Jazzy Jeff’s studio and already he has producers like M-Phazes, Kaytranada, Galimatias, Moods, Pomo, Chloe Martini and DrewsThatDude producing tracks for him. JAHKOY is on some proper next level ‘Future’ R&B type of vibe and my personal favorite is the track “Trading Places” produced by Galimatias.

You can also find “Heart Smile” produced by Pomo on the “Sound of The Tribe” compilation released by The Good Vibe. Oh in case you were wondering, “Forward Thinking” (which contains all these tracks) is available for free download right here!

Candid Music Group (founded by Brooklyn natives JNTHNSTEIN & Ivan Jackson) released their very first compilation ever a week and a half ago.

The duo operates out of a studio in Willamsburg, Brooklyn where they gathered quite some interesting artists like Penthouse Penthouse, BrassTracks, Mr. Carmack, S’natra, Alexander Lewis and of course Candid Music Group founders JNTHNSTEIN and Ivan Jackson themselves. The eleven track “Fam Volume One” release is a compilation of tracks from their extremely talented extended musical family. And hopefully the first of many more to come.

It is available for free download and we suggest you show it the love and appreciation it deserves!
