Gentleman’s Soul:
Shout out to Cory from Okayplayer for hitting us up about Louisiana-native Greg Banks. This singer/songwriter/model/actor won a won a B.E.T College Tour Competition and yet wasn’t on my radar. His latest song entitled “Soul” is available as a free download and is taken from the forthcoming “A Gentleman’s Journal” mixtape and will have many ladies sighing in harmony I bet.

The Golden $200:
WTF!?!!…where the heck has this beauty of a song been hiding all this time? Flying Lotus produced (and streamed on his Soundcloud) this extremely sexy bonus track of the Japanese version of Thundercat‘s “The Golden Age of Apocalypse”. It features Austin Peralta and let’s be honest…“$200 TB” is by far the sickest bonus track I’ve heard in a while! Big up Brainfeeder.

The Tru Shapes of Things To Come:
A few months ago we got this promo CD in the mail and it slipped my mind that this “Shapes 11:01” compilation was released last week. I remember this new Mark de Clive-Lowe song, “Push”, of his upcoming “Renegades” album being on there (also out on Tru Thoughts next month). It features Bembe Segue and Nia Andrews on the vocals. This compilation is out on 2 x CD and on vinyl (available at HHV.de) and contains some heavy hitters from Zed Bias aka Maddslinky, MdCL, Nostalgia 77, Hidden Orchestra, Quantic and a whole lot more.

Headhunters On Plug:
For those unaware it all started out when Black Spade moved to the west and met fellow producer Proh Mic at the Do-Over in LA. They hit it off from the bat and soon brought in I,Ced. Ced was living in Hawthorne California at the time thus the Hawthorne Headhunters collective were born. When Coultrain also joined, the group released their debut EP in 2009 with HVW8. Along the way a lot has changed and Proh Mic and Ced decided to go their own way and persue a solo career. Black Spade and Coultrain recorded their “Myriad of Now” album which will be released next year on Plug Research and has lots of elements of hip hop, soul, funk, pop and electronic influences. It speaks on spirituality, sexuality and everything in between. You might remember us posting “Teleport” of of the “If You Were My Baby” single. Next up is their fresh 5-track EP which is available on
as of today.

Enjoi TheFuture:
Here’s some brand new Cali hiphop from TrUe TheFuture. The first taste of his upcoming project is called “¡Enjoi!” and was produced by Berkeley native Ambigious Sounds. The homie Elaquent is also doing some production on this project due August 16th so keep an eye out for this one.
EDIT: Just received a download link from Ryan aka TrUe TheFuture so I wanted to share the entire project with you guys!

Neco’s Disclosure:
Miss Neco Redd might be a name you all have heard of but can’t quite remember where you heard it. She has done several vocal features for Platinum Pied Pipers (“One Love To U” & “Better Days”), DJ Mitsu (“Right Here”) and Byron & Onra (“Love”). Last year she put out her “No Discipline” EP and has now returned with her “The Full Disclosure” album which is available as a free download. Honestly I could only find one song on there I like, but perhaps you can find a few more. Thought I’d share this with you guys since it’s a freebie.

Food For Soul:
Chief Beatmaker just sent over the second mix from the “Seasons” project called “Fall”. The selection was done by Boo and Chief mixed things up on this one. Nothing but dope beats including some exclusive cuts from Mr. Dibiase, Ta-ku, Sunclef, Deheb and Chief himself. We’ll be posting mixes more often so don’t hesitate to send over some. However we are very picky about our mixes. In case we do not reply to your submission please remember we have look at it or listened to it first. Grab this free download by right clicking below and enjoy.

Robin’s Dirty Secret:
Scandinavian wonder produced, Robin Hannibal, has not only been working miracles on the Boom Clap Bachelors‘ “Mellem Dine Læber” release, but also on Szjerdene‘s single “Lead The Way” on Plug Research. Robin’s little secret is out. He and his girlfriend Louie from LA made a song together entitled “Dirty Secrets”. Produced by Robin of course in the style that we’ve gotten so familiar with, but this time with some Louie sprinkled all over it instead of some Coco (Quadron). I kinda like Allison’s vocals and honestly can’t hate on Robin’s production skills either. So better I suggest you guys groove to this soulful electronic indie pop joint.

Tony Got BeatsGalore:
It took quite some time, but finally mister Tony Ozier is back with some brand new ‘aural penetration’ for your ears. His new “BeatsGalore” Vol. 1 album contains a shitload of beats and a heap of interludes and some good ol’ Doo Doo Funk. Personally I would’ve liked to hear some more finished product, but hey that’s just me. All in all I think you should give this one a listen for yourself. Oh and let us know what you think about it.

Omar Lye-Fook Definitely Is The Man:
Last month UK veteran soul singer, Omar, performed a brand new song entitled “The Man” live in Copenhagen on a hot summers day. The vocals were sung live as Kriswontwo was shooting this dope video while the instrumental was added later. I think everything came out quite “Special”! Kinda slept on this one since it came out over a month ago. So just for you guys, some of that British nu soul music on a lazy Sunday afternoon.
