Woke up and found this goodie from my man Mark de Clive-Lowe in my mailbox. You may know Rahel from her work with Eric Lau or Dudley Perkins & Georgia Anne Muldrow and Mark de Clive-Lowe surely needs no introduction anymore. The two have been working together on some tunes and decided to put “Hope” up for FREE DOWNLOAD at Mashi’s Bandcamp page. Enjoy!

You might already knew that big man Ty from London is dropping “Special Kind of Fool” on us somewhere April. It’s the tale of an artist who after ten years, three critically acclaimed albums, collaborations with the likes of Tony Allen, De La Soul, Damon Albarn and Estelle, a Mercury nomination amongst other accolades, and a worldwide army of fans, has always followed his heart. “Emotions” is the first single off the new album and there’s also going to be numerous wicked remixes of the track from 2000 Black, Daz-I-Que and Waajeed coming next month! Big ups BBE, Raj and Ty of course.

Stones Throw had some promo copies of this CD floating around for a while that year, then took the Jaylib section and pressed it on a 45, which was released as the bonus 45 with “Champion Sound”. Both the CD and 45 are long out of stock. The photos were taken by B+ of Madlib in his studio in L.A. and Dilla in his in Detroit.

This fresh ass track “Rollin By” was on there and was produced by ya boy Polyester The Saint and Fresh Chuck Daily for HellaGooD productions. The video was released yesterday and I gotta holla at P for those slick ass Black Caeser sunglasses. You might have seen those before on Erykah Badu in Shafiq Husayn‘s video, but that’s because Steve ‘Thundercat’ Bruner designs these. Imma have to pick one up this summer! In case you missed it…it’s a FREE download. Video after the jump.

Jonathan Kim shot this video while he was at sound check for his gig at the Elbo Room in San Francisco with funky worm Exile this past week. As they came into the venue, he saw Exile and Teeko jamming out on their respective equipment, and he was impressed to say the least. Teeko has been making some noise with his group F.A.M.E. as well as recently working with Mark Ronson in NY for his upcoming album. Exile is coming with his “Radio Remix” album so keep an eye out for that. Great to see two artists come together, and create some amazing music together.
Kidkanevil sent us his “Basho Basho” album months ago, but my man Nev was too busy talking about coffee…as always. So on the late tip we bring you this Red Bull Music Academy participant who goes by the name of Kidkanevil. The 28-year-old beat maker has been keeping himself busy with the release of his new album “Basho Basho” which recently dropped on First Word Records. Fellow RMBA participant TOKiMONSTA (Brainfeeder) dropped a remix on us of the first leak called “Megajoy”. In case you were wondering where to buy…head on over to his Bandcamp or check out

I browsed through it myself rather quickly, but I think it’s definately worth taking a listen to. You can hear she went her own way on this album and for those that love the old Georgia Anne…you might not love this album that much. I do think that this is a more mature album and eventhough it sounds more poppy, it has a couple of heavy hitters on it! Take this ballad with Dudley Perkins “Summer Love” for instance. That right there is my summer 2010 joint fo sho. Head on over to Rushhour to buy the CD or get yourself a copy on vinyl!

And if you forgot about it, or never got the chance to check it out, it won’t be a waste of time if you check the BTS archive in the next few months. Now Andrew started where he left off and will continue to bring you quality mixes/podcasts. Up first…. Ras G..AIRHORN!!
Ras G is a commanding force in Los Angeles and a classic example of what artistry is. Always pushing his production limits and bending his sound to a point that really make you believe he’s from outer space. His live shows have a reputation of blowing out sound systems and shaking walls to the point of deterioration.
This exclusive set for BTS is only a taste of the destruction he can bring to speakers…Take cover. Tracklist after the jump.
