We’ve been following miss Fatima closely for many years now and have been down with her since her very first release on Eglo Records. I remember, one late night at the Red Bull Music Academy in London 2010, buying her Mindtravelin EP of her which she signed. Many years later we welcome her debut full-length album called Yellow Memories which has released today! With some of our favorite producers at her side (such as fLako, Floating Points and Oh No) this release was a sure win months ago. All that is left to do for us is to direct your ass to the nearest record shop or the Eglo Bandcamp page to swoop this up.

8-time Grammy nominated saxophonist Kenneth Whalum makes his debut onto the New York jazz scene with a distinctive voice of originality. As a composer, arranger, bandleader, and tenor saxophonist, Whalum released his To Those Who Believe album in 2010 with support from Robert Glasper, Chris “Daddy” Dave and Derrick Hodge. After a brief stay at Atlanta’s historic Morehouse College, he transferred to New York City’s prestigious The New School for Jazz and Contemporary Music, graduating in May 2008.

At the start of 2014 Whalum teamed up with Big K.R.I.T. on his latest single “Away“. A perfect mix between Jazz and Hip Hop with Kris Bowers on keys and Jamire Williams on drums. We’re looking forward to his upcoming Through Hell & High Water album due later this year.

Last month we saw a tweet from Sa-Ra Creative Partners with the message ‘We’re Back!!’

Hopefully Om’Mas Keith, Shafiq Husayn & Taz Arnold will be blessing the world with some brand new music very very soon. Till then we thougth you might enjoy a Slept on Sundays comeback in the form of “Nasty Things“. A long forgotten track that deserves to get some more love.

Moovmnt Guest Mix 09 comes from Melbourne-based Modern Funk producer Benny Badge. His “Seal The Deal” album came out last month and when it comes to that nasty Funk, the man behind Freekwency knows his stuff. We’re very happy to have Benny pick up where we left off last year. Indeed more guest mixes are comin’ your way in 2014! Much love to Duktus again for perhaps the sickest artwork till now.

So what if this would be THESTANDARD from now on? Four young fellas from St. Paul getting together on a project and dropping “Decisions” on the world…just like that. Gotta give it to Psymun, Spooky Black, Bobby Raps and Allan Kingdom for doing something so simple, but doing it so well. This sounds better than most of the music we hear daily. We’re keeping our ears onPsymun in particular who just released his Pink Label album!

When hearing Tay Walker‘s “Pleasure” (Ft. Leken Taylor) of his upcoming 25 Hours A Day project, there is just one thing that comes to mind…SEX. As one-fifth of Odd Future’s The Internet, Tay has been making in the picture for some time now. The new album will have guest features from Mac Miller and Casey Veggies so we’re curious how that will sound.

Today Billboard announces that Mayer Hawthorne and 14KT together form Jaded Inc. The duo hit up the Dilla estate to get permission to use the J Dilla beat used for their single “Monster” which is exactly what the title suggests. Just imagine how far ahead of his time Dilla was, because in 2014 this still sounds refreshing enough to be on “The Big Knock”. This one’s due to release mid June, but iTunes pre-orders are available now.

Taylor McFerrin‘s second single of his upcoming “Early Riser” album features none other than the wonderful Emily King. The song is called “Decisions” and my word is this amazing?! If you loved the first single featuring Nai Palm, you are going to adore this one as well.

The way this project is unfolding is epic. No doubt that this album is going to off the freakin’ hook! Out June 3rd on Brainfeeder, get ready for it.

We’d like you to meet Neo-Soul/Jazz singer Joanna Borromeo from Calgary. Her album “Kaleidoscope” was nominated in the 2014 Juno Awards for ‘R&B/Soul Recording of the Year’ and her latest collaboration, entitled “Sun Come In“, with Häzel is straight butta! The song starts off with Joanna’s heavenly serenade which quickly turns into a rhodes love story. Some may say they miss balance, but we at Moovmnt have nothing but L O V E for this ode to the sun. Great news, this one is now available for free download!!

A few months ago I missed the boat on Alfa & Emmavie‘s debut “Epoch” EP, but better late then never right?! It’s been sitting in my inbox for the past week and after another listen I decided this deserves some attention. For some reason it’s available for free download, but honestly this is way too good not to pay for! A lot more soulful music from the UK has been getting my attention lately, but let’s face it…London has always been a fertile breeding ground for musical talent. Have to shout out DJ Blue and Flava Dré for this one.
