Has it really almost been 1 1/2 years since we brought you the last Future of Funk mix? So sorry we left you funkless for such a long period of time, but with a new website comes new inspiration. Mr. Speak and I picked up were we left off in 2011 and are happy to present to you: The Future of Funk 3. Sirr Om’Mas Keith, best known from the age of Sa-Ra, released his “City Pulse” solo album…FOR FREE. Of course with Thundercat on bass and Erykah Badu on vocals, there is nothing to complain about. Might not be my favorite work from Om’Mas, but I am really feenin’ “All 4 You” featuring miss Badu and Shafiq Husayn!
We’ve been keepin’ an ear out for Rotterdam-based producer Moods for a while now. Rumor has it he might be working on a Seravince remix, but I will neither deny nor will I confirm this vicious rumor (wink). On the latest Birdview Crew compilation series, “February.EP”, we hear some nice beats from Portformat, Maximoe and Moods.

It is said that the Germans and the Dutch don’t get along very well. In the case of long time music friend, Front2blaq, this is very untrue. In fact we have love for a lot of German cats (don’t get me wrong here). Anyhow, Marcus kicks off our Guest Mix series with the loneliest number known to man. Has it been 5 years already since “Soul Movement” Vol 1 first knocked a hole in our eardrums? It must have, because Slakah The Beatchild just streamed an album teaser on Soundcloud. Soul Movement 2 is set to release this summer and is said to feature Glenn Lewis, Justin Nozuka, Andreena Mill and Tingsek to new a few. Simply put, Slakah is bringin’ the cracka this year!
