Good friend and fellow Amsterdam resident Full Crate just blessed us with a sick variation he did a while back. He’s been a Def Jam Poetry fan for years and was missing the element of music in many occasions. For this reason he decided to take Floetry‘s “Fantasise” and make his own variation, which turned out mighty fine if I may say so. Last month we met up with Soulquarian Bilal after his show in Amsterdam (Paradiso) and behold the result. Our camera man Joao couldn’t make it, so me and Deluge decided to shoot the video ourselves on his Canon 550D. Big thank you for editing it though and I think it came out pretty nice, because Bilal goes pretty deep.
As you might know his album “Airtight’s Revenge” (Plug Research) is coming out in a month and today his first single “Restart” drops. Tonight the final ‘Make a Living, Making Music’ producers workshops will take place at Club Up in Amsterdam. A Q&A will take place with Chilean producer fLako, who resides in Londen at the moment. This young producer recently took the step to make a living with making music. After the meet and greet we will listen to all the creations for the “Appelsap 10 years Commercial” and the winner will be announced. I really hope the homies Bluntspeakers, Dukehugh & Princeofbeatz did their thang. The winner will be rewarded the junXion Software and eternal fame of course.

The homie Myele from Electric Wire Hustle informed me that they will be playing in Amsterdam on Monday 19th at the Sugar Factory. In case you’re not hip to these New Zealand cats yet, check out their epk (via BBE) and rehearsal video shot at the RBMA studio in London (presented by Pinboard) below. BBE is also re-releasing EWH’s debut selftitled album in a few weeks and I’m hoping for some vinyl.

One of Holland’s biggest Hip Hop events is without a doubt Appelsap in the Oosterpark. This year they celebrate their 10 year anniversary and escpecially for creators of music, Appelsap has come up with the concept “Make a living, making music”. Next week three events will take place where young, talented producers (between the age of 16 and 26) are welcome to learn and create. Check out the details below..
Monday July 12th a meeting will take place at production company Sizzer. They will explain what kind of commercials they exactly do and how producing music for commercials exactly works. Here you’ll get a briefing about how to produce a track for the “Appelsap 10 Years Commercial” (shot by “Opslaan als”) and you will be guided by Sizzer as well. These guys have received several awards for their music productions including a Golden Lion in Cannes.
Wednesday July 14th Ivo Bol will give a workshop about the use of the junXion software developed by Steim. JunXion is a Mac OSX data routing application that can process ‘sensors’ from any HID (joysticks, mice, touchscreens), MIDI, OSC, Audio, Arduino and Video device using conditional processing and remapping, with MIDI or OSC events as its output. The workshop will be focussed on the use of JunXion to use USB and Wii controllers as mid-controllers in combination with music or VJ hardware/software (like Ableton). In a hands-on session we’ll basically learn how to use game controllers as musical instruments. Bring your own Mac with prefered software and headphones with you. If you have any USB game controllers (joysticks) or Wii controllers bring them as well so you can put together a next level ‘live-performance’.

A year after there 1st release “State-Ik” the production trio from Amsterdam decided it was time for there first album. UK massive in the house. This Friday our big buddy TY and RBMA-ninja Kidkanevil are going to perform in the upstairs room of Amsterdam’s Paradiso. We were asked to host the evening and of course we said yes. MOOVMNT at PARADISO starts of with TY who’ll be performing a lot of new material of his brand new “Special Kind of Fool” album. To bring the transition from Hip Hop to more electronic styles of music, the little homie Jameszoo is going to play some tunes. I heard through the grapevine that he’s releasing his debut album later this year, but more info on that soon. To end the evening Kidkanevil is going to do a Live set with an whole array of different styles of electronic music. Keywords are wonky, dubby and who knows what else he’s got in store. If you were impressed by his “Basho Basho” album, come support this upcoming producer.
Not only do you get two live shows…you can also visit Oi! afterwards for FREE. Breakage, Distance, N-Type, Gomes & Brutuzz will be playing some bangin’ Dubstep in the main room downstairs in case you want to go apeshit till the break of dawn.

Tonight we bring that SOUL flava to the MiNiBAR and to help us with this, we invited local legend DJ Manga. This cat has been spinning for decades and is older than time itself (just kidding). Seriously though. Manga is well known here in Amsterdam for his ‘Legends’ party that he’s been doing together with Supreme Cuisine in the Paradiso for some time now. We’d like to invite everyone in the 020 area to drop by and have a drink with us. If you like that soulful music don’t be shy…we’ll see you tonight!
