The wait is over. A brand new album by Jneiro Jarel on Kindred Spirits is a fact. We all remember his first “Three Piece Puzzle” release on Kindred and now the two have found each other once more. The title of his latest album is “Fauna” and it is heavily inspired by Brazilian music. Offering two special deals, Kindred Spirits has put together two packages containing the following. The vinyl package consists of the LP + 7″ + poster, while the other package contains the CD + 7″ + poster. If you buy the album seperately, you will not get a poster so go for that package deal! Last month we met up with Soulquarian Bilal after his show in Amsterdam (Paradiso) and behold the result. Our camera man Joao couldn’t make it, so me and Deluge decided to shoot the video ourselves on his Canon 550D. Big thank you for editing it though and I think it came out pretty nice, because Bilal goes pretty deep.
As you might know his album “Airtight’s Revenge” (Plug Research) is coming out in a month and today his first single “Restart” drops. The single includes an instrumental version and a remix by Los Angeles experimental Brainfeeder producer Deadelus. Brand new video of FlyLo‘s “Cosmogramma” album featuring Stephen ‘Thundercat’ Bruner. The video was directed by team ‘Special Problems’ and is cosmicly soothing if you ask me. ”Mmmhmm” happens to be my fav and so I’m happy they picked this song for the video. To get in that L.A. vibe, here’s a fresh new Shawn Jackson joint of his upcoming “Brand New Old Me” album. Shawn gets a little help from people like Co$$, Thurzday (U-N-I) and JimiJames. On the productional side look out for ppl like Cook Classics, Astronote, Tony Ozier, Knxwledge and Beat Maker Beat. The title song was produced by Cook and we’ll drop that on a later note. I believe a video of “Lil Big Man” will be shot in a few weeks, so keep an eye out for that as well. In the meanwhile enjoy “Izichu” featuring Thurzday, produced by Beat Maker Beat and be on the look out for that vinyl, CD or digital release coming out on Tres Records next month.

About three weeks ago I emailed Wonderful Noise to see if I could get my hands on a copy of the new Benny Tones album “Chrysalis” which recently released on Evert Waking Hour. For those that never heard of Benny, he’s a Wellington-based producer/DJ/audio engineer and the official sound tech for Electric Wire Hustle. So I decided to hit up RBMA participant Manzana and he patched me through to Benny. Have to say I really love the whole vibe of the album and the Kiwi’s managed to surprise me once more, coming out of nowhere with a stunning release. Can’t go wrong with artists like Mara TK and Joe Dukie (Fat Freddy’s Drop) on your album of course.

The time has finally come for Tyto drop his latest “Special Kind of Fool” album on us. The first single “Emotions” (click HERE to purchase) came out last month and contained some big names on the remixes. Waajeed was one of the producers on there, but my person fav was the Dego & Akwasi‘s 2000 Black Remix. We’ve been waiting for this to drop eversince we interviewed Ty last year before his show at the Bitterzoet in Amsterdam. This release is now available via and on CD via the BBE website, so show sum love for this Hip Hop veteran! Songs like “Heart Is Breaking”, “Get 2 The Sky”, “Me” and “Falling” are just incredible and show us that Ty still got it even after being in the game for so long. Definitely a worhty successor to “Closer” and this honestly sounds like a breath of fresh air.

We told you last week that Stones Throw‘s ambassador of Boogie Funk is back in Amsterdam this Friday. Before the clock strikes midnight L.A.’s very own Dãm-Funk will be at the MiNiBAR to give ya’ll a taste of that Funk. An intimate signing session will take place, so bring your vinyl or CD if you want an autograph. Stick around for a while and hear Dãm-Funk play a couple of records to get you in the mood. Don’t expect a whole set, because he’s saving that for Boogie Bash at the Paradiso later that night.
