Seriously good 4 track 12″ from Samiyam on the brilliant Hyperdub label…

Hyperdub’s first US signing, and first hip hop tempo release comes from Flying Lotus sidekick, straight out of LA, Samiyam. With colab releases with Flylo under the name FLYamSAM, a recent selfmade CD ‘Rap Beats’, and a stunning, recent remix for Pattie Blingh for Ramp Recordings, Samiyam is rising fast. All the tunes on the Return E.P. carry Samiyam’s signature synth sound, melancholy melodies, and off-kilter, post-Dilla funk that will make you bump, your brain tingle, while you are simultaneously crying your eyes out. This style is perfected on the track ‘Return’ which has been featured in many a Flylo mix from the last couple of years, and the ultra-lazy grooves of the 8-bit ‘Trick Platform’ which plugs in nicely to recent Hyperdub releases from Quarta 330, Ikonika, Zomby and Rustie. On the flip, ‘Moon Shoes’ and ‘Cheesecake Backslap’, the drums get turned up, and the quantize function thrown out the window. Loose, lop-sided but totally funktional, this release brings a bit of smoggy, toxic West Coast sunshine to stiff old, gloomy UK. Get it on Rushhour. And the lost Luckiest Charm Flylo track. A Hip Hop/Soul Cut From Ron Trent’s New Project JMB. Two soulful hiphop cuts here; with vocals very much on a Mos Def tip on ‘What is love’ and as well a check for all those into Slum Village and the likes. Vocals here come from Yaw, a singer & MC from Chicago who worked with Erro, Lizz Fields, Amel Larriuex etc. Thanks to Jazzy Sport Japan. Get it on Rushhour.

Koch Records released Dwele’s “Sketches of a Man” in Japan. This version got 2 bonus tracks. If your not from Japan it’s extremely difficult to  get your hands on it (only via Ebay for $42). So just listen to the 2 bonustracks on MoovmntDotCom. We didn’t get the permission to put it up for download..

2008 is a huge year for singer/songwriter Peter Hadar, that was kicked off by his surprise recognition as one of URB Magazine’s Next 100 Artists; calling him ,“the next, next big thing in R&B”. He was then featured in Billboard Magazine’s ‘Now Hear This’ section, both praising his style and determination for greatness. On June 3rd, Peter released his sophomore album ‘Well Dressed for the Art Show’ which further separates him from the pack; delving deeper into his Electronica, Glam, and Experimental flavor. His background in fashion extends his versatility, style, and influence. Nothing can stop this Cool Weirdo’s International TakeOver.
