AHU To Love

Long tipped as a vocalist to watch, Ahu steps softly from the shadows of her lauded guest appearances to deliver To:Love. It’s a captivating performance from the Turkish singer whose unique style might be found somewhere between traditional soul and the studied remove of the likes of Broadcast’s Trish Keenan. If there’s poignancy in her delivery, there is hope in the lyrics: it’s a song about the calm and freedom felt by lovers after they split. Her long-time friend and musical ally Paul White provides the subtle, ever-shifting backdrop, a nuanced electronic counterpoint to the more organic psychedelia of his recent …and the Purple Brain LP. Things take a dramatic turn on the b-side as Dimlite focuses on the tumult that precedes the post-break up relief, letting harpsichord fly into ravaged drum breaks and squalling synths before slamming the door for the very last time. It’s undeniably odd, utterly fascinating, and further evidence that this Swiss wunderkind is a very special talent.

You can see the brand new video after the jump. Below we streamed the Dimlite Remix, plus you get the original track produced by Paul White for FREE. Thanks to One Handed Music.

direct-soul-Gold

When L.A. based Erik Rico and Marc Mac (4hero) hooked up in the studio this summer, “Direct Soul” was born. The Direct Soul EP was really captured in a moment of time with all 4 tracks recorded in one late afternoon session in Marc’s small Bedfordshire studio. The only guideline was not to let the boundaries of tempo & style limit the creation. Marc’s Afro-Latinic frame fused with Tech-Soul forms the bedding for Erik’s unique vocal style. A real modern day fusion many musical stylese and stretching our perception of SOUL! Available via Direct right now and via their Bandcamp page.

alexb-xlr8r-podcast

Colorado’s top producer Alex B has been making noise for quite some time now. As head of Elm and Oak (which is his own label) he dropped his debut album “Moments” about five months ago, which can be bought on Moments. Next week he’ll be starting his US tour and as a preview he’s assembled this exclusive mix for the XLR8R podcast.

It’s a layered, at times psychedelic, journey through hip-hop beats, dubstep brawn, and bedroom-studio skronk that nicely showcases Botwin’s talents; as it happens, he either produced or remixed half the songs here. Throw in some unreleased gems from like-minded beat producers, and this podcast is poised to get any beat freak salivating.

Andreya Triana finally drops her long awaited debut album entitled “Lost Where I Belong”. We’ve already kept you up to date about her past few singles, but the time has finally come. A very mature album if I may say so, but I expected nothing less with productions by Bonobo. Pre-order the album HERE via Ninje Tune and enjoy the wondrously beautiful “Up In Fire”.
