Earlier this month we visited L.A. and had a blast. We arrived, bounced to the hotel and went straight to the KPFK studio to meet up with Santana from TruthSeekers radio. Much love for inviting me and B. Bravo to do a little guest mix on the show. We played some music and had a blast. Thought you might want to hear some of the gems we let loose that night. Oh and big up to the L.A. fam for holdin’ it down!
We from Moovmnt have been following German producer IAMNOBODI for quite some time now and have been waiting for his “Elevated” album to release. Well the moment has arrived and we’d like you all to take a listen to the opening song “Do What You Love”, which most likely reflects it’s makers decision to pursue his dream. Even though we hope to hear some more vocal features on the next project…there is nothing wrong with this instrumental album!
We have music friends from all over the world and for our “Moovmnt Guest Mix 08” we asked mister Ennio Styles from Melbourne to bless us with some good music. Ennio has an amazing radio show called Stylin’ on 3RRR-FM and his taste in music is simply awesome. Many thanks Mr. Stylin’ for the ill guest mix and much love to Duktus for coming through with some proper artwork!
A new trio, that goes by the name of Tiny Hearts, has emerged. Waajeed, Dede Reynolds and Tim K met at a bar NY. Brace yourselves for their debut “Stay” EP will be out out very soon on Dirt Tech Reck. A limited quantity of 175 pieces in protective polyvinyl will be sold, so act fast.
It’s almost time for IAMNOBODI to unveil his “Elevated” album that we have all been dying to hear. Excited to hear some newness in the shape of “Maputo Dance”, which is available for you and yours via Soulection. Just ‘name your price’ and you’re good to go.
Last week I came across the new single taken from The Foreign Exchange‘s upcoming fourth album “Love In Flying Colors“. I was digging the non-album b-side “Pity” and thought I’d share this one (even if I’m on the late side). The album drops later this month and the single is available on iTunes.
The Yancey Boys (piloted by Illa J and Frank Nitt) and Delicious Vinyl are on the verge of bringing you “Sunset Blvd”. This project is built around previously unheard tracks created by the late J Dilla and will drop next month. The newest single “Quicksand” features Common and Dezi Paige and is a trip. Get yourselves ready for some more serious guest features from Posdnuos, Guilty Simpson, Eric Roberson, SlimKid3 and T3.
Very pleased to let y’all know that Terrace Martin‘s brand new “3ChordFold” is out! Now here’s a wonderful mix between Hip Hop, Jazz and Soul all blending perfectly into one. Together with musicians like Robert Glasper, James Fauntleroy, Lalah Hathaway and Musiq Soulchild Martin makes this into a winner. Other featuring artists such as Snoop Dogg, Kendrick Lamar and Wiz Khalifa make it more accessible for a younger generation of music fans. A few of my fav’s are “Over Time” featuring Musiq, “Angel”, “Gone” with Robert Glasper & Casey Benjamin and “Triangle Ship” featuring Kendrick Lamar.
For our latest Moovmnt guest mix, we decided to ask our buddy Anthony Valadez, from the always sunny Los Angeles. A loooooong time ago Ant blessed us with a Moovmnt exclusive guest mix, but we thought time was right for a follow-up. In two months I’ll be visiting KCRW’s very own teddy bear in the flesh for some bro luv. Thank you AntVa and also special thanks to Duktus for the nice artwork.
Thanks to Sweeney Kovar we got wind of an MC who goes by the name of Chris Clarke who quite recently released his latest project, “The Handpicked”, for free (for a limited time only). This project features handpicked collaborations with some of L.A.’s finest including Stephen ‘Thundercat’ Bruner and his brother Ronald Bruner Jr. The track “Don’t Mimic” is by far the best thing on there with additional harmonizing from Kamasi Washington and sax solo from Taylor Graves. Good news…this one is still available as a free download right here!
