CESOULSD
12.06.15

The fellas from Create & Explore came together with Street Dreams Magazine & the Soulection crew and announced a series, titled CESOULSD, of pop up photowalks across the United States. Before each walk only 24 hours notice was given and the response and attendance was quite massive. Lots of like-minded individuals came out for one purpose. To inspire and create with one another.

During this initiative the crew also visited the Red Bull Studios and sir IAMNOBODI and Chris McClenney got together on this dope production. Our guess is that the title of this track is ‘So Hard’, but the name of the project is CESOULSD. Watch the video here and soak up the good vibes.

DEFLOn is a young beatmaker straight from north cakalak and let me tell you he is bustin’ out some serious beats.

No doubt about it that this guy has skills and a passion for experimental Hip-Hop beats. Back in 2012 DEFLOn dropped his “Darker Than Black” album on Circuitree Records and “A Ghostly Apparition” released a year later. The producer returns, this time on Laruche Records, with his latest project titled “Vibrate“. It is perhaps best described as a colorful palette of instrumentals tinted with Electronic, Jazz, House and Hip-Hop influences.

Pleased to exclusively premiere the track “Repeating Ball” on our Soundcloud. Go ahead…show some love and pre-order the EP here. It will be available from June 17th in case you were wondering.

Pat van Dyke Two Sides DJ Spinna Remix
10.06.15

Pat van Dyke blew us away with his single “Science Fiction“, followed by his impressive “Right On Time” album earlier this year released on Jakarta Records. What some of you might not know is that late 2013 the producer from New York released “Technicolor HI-FI” on Cotter Records. This one got massive props from cats such as Bobbito Garcia and Gilles Peterson.

Pat van Dyke returns to Cotter Records with a new 7-inch which contains a remix from DJ Spinna, who according to us, is one of the most original producers in Hip-Hop music and beyond. It is such an honor for us to premiere Spinna’s rework of “Two Sides” and we’d like to thank PVD for the opportunity. Oh and for the record, on the b-side of this limited edition (300 copies) 45, Pat van Dyke treats his own track “Frequency” to a Rhythm Ace Remix.

The record is accompanied by a simultaneous digital release of a 10-track compilation featuring contributions from all over the globe. On it you will find remixes from Moods (Rotterdam), Buscrates 16-Bit Ensemble (Atlanta), John Robinson and many others. If you pre-order the limited edition vinyl you will receive an immediate download of the DJ Spinna remix now and the entire digital release upon release date. In case you’re not picking up the record, head over to your favorite digital retailer on June 30th to get those MP3’s.

Grillz
08.06.15

Grillz grew up in a musical family with his father being a jazz pianist and a guitarist as well.

Back in 2001 Grillz started a studdy in classical guitar at the conservatory of Lyon. Music has always been a big part of his life and one of his earliest influences come from the primitive style of Hip-Hop. Eventually the French producer started drawing influences from Jazz, Funk and Soul music. In 2005 Grillz invested in an electric guitar and started playing in Gypsy, Rock and Jazz bands. He instantly fell in love with producing his own electronic music, bought an MPD and stole his father’s MIDI keyboard to get serious in 2011.

Fast-forward to today, which marks the release date of his “Architect” EP and the exclusive premiere of the track “Skylines” on our Soundcloud page. The entire EP is available on Cosmonostro (name your price).

Wantigga
05.06.15

For our fifth Werk Space edition we invited veteran producer Wantigga. Who we have always known as simply Wan. He thought it would be a good idea to invite fellow Soulection producer Jarreau Vandal for a collaboration at the Red Bull Studios Amsterdam. Now we’re not exaggerating when we say the outcome of last months Werk Space adventure is truly phenomenal.

As a starting point the two Dutch producers used the infamous ‘So Flute’ sample. They completely switch it up with Jarreau going buck wild on the drums. At this moment the track is not entirely finished yet, but Wantigga suplied us with an exclusive Werk Space preview right here!

1234 Creations
04.06.15

November last year I wrote a piece titled ‘A Rise To Power‘ explaining how artists these days form alliances.

We welcome a brand new collective that goes by the name of 1234 Creations. They are full of ambition and consist of a bunch of talented music makers such as Daniel D’Artiste, Jahkoy, Johnny Yukon and Crystal Mec. Why don’t you get acquainted and take a peek at the collective’s Soundcloud page?!

FYI 1234 Creations was formed in 2015 and has 17 members from across the globe. For the first four days of June Pigeons & Planes will be sharing their first four releases. On June 1st Jahkoy, Lean Ghost, and Mecca kicked things off and at this point most of the release is online. We picked “Round/Sleep” (free download) produced by Daniel D’artiste, Soft Glas & Kleber Jones and the organic version of “Nature” with vocals by Jahkoy, Mecca Kalani & Willow Smith (produced by The Johnny Frost Band).

Keep your ear out for this talented group of young music makers, they will grow and surprise you in the future!

Rosie
04.06.15

Wayne Snow is a Nigerian born vocalist and songwriter who has returned with his sophomore “Rosie” EP on Tartelet Records. It comes as no surprise that one of our most beloved German producers, Max Graef is responsible for some of the tightest productions on Rosie.

Almost a year after having released his debut “Red Runner” EP, the falsetto fanatic returns to the Danish Tartelet imprint with a worthy follow-up. Wayne made his debut on Max Graef’s solo album and recently he was featured on Darius’ “Helios” EP. The title track Rosie is rough, rugged and raw yet soulful and warm at the same time. Another favorite is the track “Drunk” which was inspired by drunk-dialing and late night hook ups. Due to the label requesting us to take down the stream of Drunk, we now only stream the title track for your listening pleasure. We urge you to head over to the Oye Records shop and pick up the vinyl or visit iTunes to download some digital.

FilosofischeStilte
03.06.15

FilosofischeStilte aka Luuk Graham was given the nickname of the Philosopher by his mom and dad. Also being the quiet type, it didn’t take him long to find the perfect artist name. Seems like Luuk used to ask a lot of questions as a kid, so we thought we’d ask some of our own.

The 21-year-old producer, from the city behind the Dunes, returns with Munch Palace Vol. 2. This second installment contains six hard hitting electronic tracks that can be quite extreme for some. The perfect balance between vibes and thumbs can be found on Sam A La Bamalot‘s remix of “Lost“. During the first minute you seem to gently ease into this soulful version, but it isn’t long until that haunting bass line catches up and smashes your eardrums to bits.

We’re pleased to exclusively premiere this track via Soundcloud and watch out for the new EP to come out this Monday. Shouts to Lowriders Recordings, who will be releasing this digitally and on vinyl as well.

Special Affair
03.06.15

One of our favorite bands from Los Angeles, California is back with another hot one titled “Special Affair“! Consisting of Syd The Kyd, Matt Martians, Patrick Paige, Christopher Allan Smith, Jameel Bruner, and Steve Lacy, The Internet seems to be back in full effect.

They might be one of the most promising bands in the Future Soul genre and it’s clear we need more Syd in our lives and not merely during a special affair. With lyrics like ‘I can read your mind even from behind’ she lets it be known she’s got some serious playette moves.

We think it’s about time for a full-length album, so lets hope Odd Future Records has one slated for later this year. Fingers crossed, but till then bounce to this!

Tender Games
01.06.15

Extremely happy Kartell‘s new “Tender Games” EP has been unleashed onto the world.

The Tender Games project from the Parisian producer consists of six tracks and shows his long lasting love for Chill wave, R&B and House music. Both songs with San Jose’s vocalist J-Rican are smooth as butta, but our song of choice has to be “Falling” featuring Tom Bailey. Clearly the a-side is made Tender Games in the bedroom (love making), while the b-side focuses more on getting that ass on the dance floor.

Tender Games will make a perfect soundtrack to your summer out as of today via Roche Musique. Visit the iTunes shop, spend a few bucks and thanks us later!
