We of Moovmnt are big fans of live performances and tend to go to as many as our budget and schedule allows. But still there are some big concerts that we sadly have had to miss, mainly because of our ages.

Kay of the Foundation , who’s cd with Nicolay will drop any time soon, has put together a fantastic Podcast for RappersIknow.com for all of us who haven’t had the opportunity to be at these concerts. It exists of live version of lots of my favourite soul tracks and probably of yours to. I’ve gotten goosebumps a few times just listening to this podcast, these live performances are not just some fools shouting on a mic but putting down a everlasting performance with sweet voices (no homo).

Be sure to peep the moment Marvin sings his first word on “Distant Lover”, the guitar solo on “Summer Breeze” from the Isley Brothers and Jill Scott doing a piece of “ATCQ’s – Find My Way”.
Thanks a lot Kay for making my day.

Looks like Andwele Gardner also known as Dwele will be visiting our country ”once again” for a concert on March 31 in Paradiso. The question is: will he really be coming? Seeming that his last two attempts didn’t work out (he forgot his passport..).

Dwele is known for his smooth soulful tracks and voice to really set the mood. His 2 official albums Some Kinda and Subject were well received back in 2003 and 2005. He’s done a few featurings in the meanwhile with Slum, Kanye and Common but we’re still eager to hear some new solo stuff. Will 2008 be his year? Who knows.. let’s hope he’ll bring some new songs to the Grammy’s!

More updates on Dwele coming soon.

Dâm-funk (pronounced: Dame-Funk), a true ‘Modern-Funksta’, was born in Culver City, CA, raised in Pasadena, CA. and is now based in the Leimert Park section of Los Angeles, CA. dâm-funk grew up listening to many styles of music: Funk, Soul, Disco, New-Wave and even Metal. Drums was his first instrument playing along to records lick for lick from the likes of The Ohio Players and Rose Royce, to KISS and Rush in his bedroom from around the young age of 6 until his early high school years.

You may know dãm-funk from his remix of Baron Zen’s “Burn Rubber” & his debut solo joint “Sidewayz” both out now on Stones Throw yet, he also throw’s one of the freshest Monday nite parties in L.A. called Funkmosphere which focues on rare joints via ‘original wax’ from the early 80’s based Boogie/Funk, Modern-Soul, & ‘current’ Modern-Funk sub genres respectfully. An L.A. native, raised in Pasadena, CA & now based in the Leimert Park section of Los Angeles, dãm is now currently recording his debut ‘EP’ for Stones Throw Records with full support from label president & friend Peanut Butter Wolf which promises to be the ‘Modern-Funk’ project everyones been waiting for to emerge from the left coast. “dãm-funk is a man that’s almost single-handedly brought the ‘Boogie’ scene to life here in LA.” – Ty G ~ HVW8.com

Dâm-funk is also on this months Stonesthrow podcast.
