I got this funny ass email from Mike Gao yesterday. He and the homie eLan dropped a sweet joint called “Withdrawn” on their Soundcloud last week and some Russian blog wrote the following.

“Mike Gao is a young Japanese producer in West Coast. It has been known that Mike has been very closely cooperating with Tokimonsta. Soundcloud is one of his new track, which is cooperated with Tokimonsta. But, there is no Tokimonsta’s name, since she used her pseudonym Elan. Now, they are living in sunshine California and Mike Gao is in the most powerful school in the world. Now Mike has no idea what kinda crack they’ve been smoking, but he let someone translate it for him and found it funny as hell. So big up to Ahhmusic for revealing that eLan is actually a cute bunny monsta called Jennifer.

Been away for a week, but finally back again with a quick new post. Not that much time today, cuz I’m meeting up with Mike Gao in a few. Space Kid just dropped another crazy ass new Paramind’s demo by the name of “LAbyrinth” which is clearly a tribute to the best coast.

Last month the legendary Gil Scott Heron passed away. As a tribute Paris based vocalist Sandra Nkaké created “A Place for You”, based on Gil’s cover of “Inner City Blues”. It features Jean Phi Dary on rhodes, Antoine Berjeaut on trumpet, Matthieu Ouaki on guitar, Jî Drû on flute and Sandra herself on vocals. Sandra also asked Mark de Clive-Lowe amongst others to remix the song as part of their tribute. You can find the remixes and ofcourse the original over here for FREE. Enjoy!

Sandra Nkaké – A Place For You (MdCL remix)

Analog Division is a group consisting of Georgia based producer Nav, Virginia based producer Trey Hemingway and rapper Barz Vic from North Carolina. However their “A N L G | D I V” release is limited to beats from Nav and Trey, leaving out Barz who is currently working on his own EP. Being that Trey is the more seasoned producer out of the two, I must say I tend to favor his part of the album the most but Nav is definitely showing potential. Get the free download here.

The Foreign Exchange blessed us with a nice little freebie today. On June 28 the group is releasing a live CD/DVD entitled “Dear Friends: An Evening With The Foreign Exchange”, which apart from the live recordings features two brand new studio tracks.
