One-Handed Music is back with something new. The half-Mauritian percussionist & singer Mo Kolours is about to release his debut EP later in May, which unites an array of more familiar influences with music of his island roots. We like the vocal display of Indian Ocean rhythms on “Biddies” and are curious to hear what his “EP1: Drum Talking” release is going to sound like. In the meanwhile this free download will hold you guys over untill the full release. Oh you can pre-order the vinyl at Rush Hour and via his Bandcamp page as well.

Underground veteran and Little Brother alumni Rapper Big Pooh released another solo project today entitled Fat Boy Fresh Vol1.: For Members Only. Beats come from Young RJ, Madlib, Black Milk, Nottz, Focus..and others. Hey, who is that guy? I don’t know. I’ve never seen him before. Ursula do you know? It be the one they call ARP 101 from LNDN and he’s back with sum of that futuristic funk. He put this new “Mystery Man” joint on his Soundcloud and hopefully we’ll be hearing much more of this soon.

When French producer dÉbruit relocated to London, it was just the start of a journey that would take him much further east than Hackney. dEbruit explains; “I lived in a Turkish neighbourhood in London and my productions are always a result of curiosity over the sounds and people around me. I wanted to learn more and try something with Turkish music and instruments so I travelled to Turkey in October, and I’m so glad I did.”

And so his “Şiş Sürpriz” EP was born (which translates as Skewer Surprise). Traditional Turkish folk instruments are coupled with modern, synthetic sounds on an EP that’s full of eastern promise. Currently dÉbruit is crafting a debut album based around trips to West Africa and recordings with the region’s indigenous musicians and traditional instruments.
