The Direct Soul EP was really captured in a moment of time with all 4 tracks recorded in one late afternoon session in Marc’s small Bedfordshire studio. The only guideline was not to let the boundaries of tempo & style limit the creation. Marc’s Afro-Latinic frame fused with Tech-Soul forms the bedding for Erik’s unique vocal style. A real modern day fusion many musical stylese and stretching our perception of SOUL! Available via
right now and via their Bandcamp page.

Nottz be consistantly killin’ it every single time and this time he teams up with fellow producer The Alchemist on this new track “The 1ne”. All I’m hearing is those crazy ass drums. This joint will not be on Nottz’ upcoming solo album “You Need This Music” which is due October 5th on Raw Koncept. [via OS]

The trio, which includes Mayer Hawthorne along with IX Lives and Jackson Perry, dropped the album in 2008. In case you missed out…here’s a link to
where you can cop it.
Colorado’s top producer Alex B has been making noise for quite some time now. As head of Elm and Oak (which is his own label) he dropped his debut album “Moments” about five months ago, which can be bought on
. Next week he’ll be starting his US tour and as a preview he’s assembled this exclusive mix for the XLR8R podcast.
It’s a layered, at times psychedelic, journey through hip-hop beats, dubstep brawn, and bedroom-studio skronk that nicely showcases Botwin’s talents; as it happens, he either produced or remixed half the songs here. Throw in some unreleased gems from like-minded beat producers, and this podcast is poised to get any beat freak salivating.

Next month Black Milk‘s highly anticipated “Album of The Year” is due to hit streets. Other than the heavy contributions from both members of his live band (vocalist/keyboardist AB and drummer Daru Jones), the album exclusively features players and vocalists from his hometown of Detroit. Vocalist Melanie Rutherford, bassist Tim Shellaberger, and the versatile horn player and string arranger Sam Beaubien (who arranged horns and strings on Mayer Hawthornes “A Strange Arrangement”) are just a few names. Peep the latest “Deadly Medley” video featuring Royce Da 5’9 and Elzhi and pre-order the CD via Fatbeats while you’re at it.
Andreya Triana finally drops her long awaited debut album entitled “Lost Where I Belong”. We’ve already kept you up to date about her past few singles, but the time has finally come. A very mature album if I may say so, but I expected nothing less with productions by Bonobo. Pre-order the album HERE via Ninje Tune and enjoy the wondrously beautiful “Up In Fire”.

While in the lab trying out ideas that come from their live performances, Rucyl, wrote a song over the Soul Litchfield beat, “Lightning Bug”. This was the birth of the their EP entitled “Black”. Also included is a short but sweet tune, “Stuck in You” and an ode to the infamous video game “Galaga”.
