Moovmnt Celebration of Curation Mix

We’ve been using Mixcloud for almost a year now mainly thanks to their usability and handy widget. When they asked us to take part in their “Celebration of Curation” campaign, we felt honoured to be a part of it and so the whole team got together to put together a mix worthy of this celebration. In the playlist you’ll find some brand new, as well as classic, Electronic Beats, Hip Hop, Broken and even some Soulful House music. Some of the biggest editorial voices in the world of music were invited to produce an exclusive Cloudcast for their campaign – 31 days, 31 curators, 31 Cloudcasts. Go check out what we and our colleagues from BBC1xtra, Red Bull Music Academy, Laid Back, XLR8R and others have put together HERE.

LORN-original

One of the standout tracks from ‘None An Island‘ combines Lorn’s trademark overt emotionalism, brutality and bleakness into something transcendentally beautiful. Brainfeeder labelmate Samiyam then takes ‘Brainwaves’ and converts it into a lowriding, limping journey into paranoia and fear. Lorn ups the ante yet again by returning with two new original tracks, ‘Never Enough’, which uses a distorted, rasping, alien voice to syncopate its rhythms, and ‘Until There Is No End’, which shows that Ortega’s grasp of melody is never compromised by the sheer heaviness of his tracks. You can buy Lorn’s ‘Nothing Else’ album HERE. None An Island will be released September 13th. Brainfeeder

machineshateme-400

Dibiase (pronounced Dee-Bee-Ah-See) is releasing his debut album “Machines Hate Me” on Alpha Pup Records next month. The album is an aural amusement ride filled with boom-bap cracks, 8-bit fantasies and half remembered soul chops. Growing up in Watts, the South Los Angeles neighborhood notorious for its race riots and inner city strife, Dibiase turned away from his gang-infested surroundings and resigned to his garage, where he found solace in video games. September 14th is the day of the release so jot it down…oh and for the real heads >> pre-order the album NOW!

Quazedelic-02

I’ve been bumping this Quazedelic joint for the longest, but it’s officially coming out. A collaboration between the fonk monk and Doggfather was destiny waiting to be fulfilled. “Hold On”, off Quazedelic’s upcoming debut LP, has Quaz and Snoop combining their smooth, similar styles from separate genres for the album’s first single. On October 5th “Stan Sly: Anuthaworld” will be available via Georgia Anne Muldrow’s and Declaime’s SomeOthasShip Connect.

No this video is not about adding more Nike shoes to your collection at all! The name “Morenike” (moe-re-knee-ke), in Yoruba means ‘I have found one to cherish’ and is usually bestowed upon a much sought after female child. Taken from Siji‘s sophomore album “Adesiji” this song has earned it’s own videoclip. Special mention should also be made of Laron Land’s brilliant horn arrangements (part Afro, part Jazz/big band swing), which helped to lend significant weight to the feel and mood of the song. The album is available via Adesiji for those that haven’t bought it yet.
