Moovmnt Presents: “Damn…Funk!?!” by Moovmnt
When we heard that Dam-Funk was coming over, MRP and me decided to get our funky strutt on and mix up a little Boogie/Funk mix. Enjoy these twentyfive minutes of pure, unadulterated Funk and get in the mood for Dam-Funk’s European tour. Our friends at Strange Fruit loved the idea and so we suggested this mix was to be used as a promotional mix for the Strange Fruit presents: Dam-Funk event, held on October 10th in Rotterdam. Thelonius & Lucky Dubz will be sound providers for the rest of the evenening so come one, come all and get ya boogie on! Deluge…thanks a million for the the artwork and peep the flyer (by Lucky) and tracklist after the jump.
The Adroit Adventures EP, released on Ubiquity in June, was the first set of tales from Paul Movahedi, also known as The Clonious. It was immediately picked up by the likes of Mary Anne Hobbs and Benji B on BBC Radio. .
To follow up the succes of the Adroit Adventures EP The Clonious will release his full album “Between The Dots” in October on Ubiquity Records. Guests on the album include Dorian Concept, Cid Rim, Georgia Anne Muldrow and Dudley Perkins.

The group consists of David ‘TaayNinh’ Wright (multi-instrumentalist and producer), Myele Manzanza (drums), Mara TK (vocals / guitarist / turntabilist / producer) and Benny Tones (sound engineer and producer). Developing their own sound and twist on modern hip-hop, psychedelic and soul, the music of EWH reaches forward while referencing key points of music’s past. Thick drums and percussion layered with synth lines, hints of the Fender Rhodes and nylon stringed guitars have your neck snapping while your ears crane to its soulful vocals … a future soul sound that fuses Marvin Gaye, Charles Mingus and Funkadelic with the likes of J Dilla, PPP and SA-RA Creative Partners.
On the album there are some guest appearances by artists like Georgia Anne Muldrow, Stacy Epps, Declaime (aka Dudley Perkins) and guitarist Billy TK. Check out the “Perception” video after the jump and BUY their album if you like what you hear. Big ups to Ray Knowledge for tipping us off…

Their new album “System” is an album forged from experience. Unlike the last album, this one is a true cross-over ranging from 80’s boogie-influenced music to techno-ish and deep house sounding tunes. I know I’m in love with at least two joints of this album, so give it a listen if you see it in the recordshop. Available via Rushhour or Juno Records (from Oct. 9th) for the lovers of digital music.

Because this track was so well received he decided to make the “Fortune” remix available to each and all in appreciation of the massive love he’s received for it. Wow this shit is the livest ish I’ve heard in a minute man…so damn funky it makes my neck hurt. Taken from a recent ArtDontSleep Jam Session with an amazing array of musicians such as Pharoahe Monch, Shafiq Husayn (SA-RA), Om’Mas Keith (SA-RA), Brook D’leau (J’Davey), Mark De Clive-Lowe, Miguel Atwood-Ferguson (Suite for Ma Dukes), Thundercat, and more. It was a jam session of epic proportions and a night to remember. Enjoy a video clip from the jam session and big up to Plug Research & J Kim for this one!
Working on this Boogie/Funk mix with MRP, I stumbled across these two funky guys from Germany who together form the group First Touch. Their music is best described as modern day boogie or neo funk (whatever you’d like to call it). Check out these ten fine boogie tunes to please your thirst for authentic true 80’s funk’n’disco grooves. If you like Dam-Funk ya’ll have to give this one a listen and download the whole thing for FREE at High Steppin! Oh can’t forget to thank my man K Murda (aka B. Bravo‘s lil bro) for this one! Frisco luv all day..
