Two years ago, Slakah the Beatchild dropped “Soul Movement Vol.1” on us and boy was it sweet. Nowadays good Nu-Soul music is getting harder and harder to find for the simple fact that less and less artists are making it. Together with Ebrahim and Tingsek, Slakah is promoting their “Vibe, Love, Smile” tour and because their Detroit tour got cancelled, the trio decided to share “War Within” with everybody. Check out the FREE download HERE!

Just got this new BoomBaptist remix of Pharoahe Monche’s “Simon Says” in our mailbox. Usually I hate it when producers remix classic hiphop tracks, but I still decided to give it a listen. I know some of y’all may like this so decided to share it with you guys.
The BoomBaptist “Beat Tape” is still available as a FREE DOWNLOAD over HERE.

When I say this shit is LIVE, I do really mean this shit is liver than a motherfucker! Once again one of Holland’s sickest producers reminds us why he is just that. Louis is leaving us hungry and wanting more, so when you gonna drop some a new project on us?
Louis Bordeaux – Mournin D
[audio:http://www.moovmnt.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/05/Louis-Bordeaux-Mournin-D-MOOVMNT.mp3]Now I’ve got good news and bad news. The good news is that the guys from HVW8 are sharing this Master Blazter mix full of unheard goodies from Dam-Funk, Computer Jay and J1. The bad news is that I was hoping to hear some actual Master Blazter material, but alas. Another bit of bad news for me personal is that I’m gonna miss them perform live in San Francisco at the Mezzanine July 1st. That evening I fly back to L.A. so I guess I’m shit outta luck.
Three musicians with their own distinctive styles have come together to form Master Blazter. Each individual is an integral part of the whole – each one necessary to keep funk music alive, taking it to unforeseen heights. Los Angeles’ very own DJ Kutmah is responsible for mixing it all up into one funked up mix and I’d like to thank HVW8 for steadily bringing out good music and for the goodies you guys sent us recently!
Back in January we received some extremly nice drafts from an upcoming project called “Proceduri de Rutina” by Hubert Daviz. He has been working on this project by sampling only Rumanian Jazz records since early December 2009. The eight tracks strong release was supposed to come out as a free release on Kwatro, but our friends at Melting Pot Music picked this up and now it’s due to drop at the end of this month on limited vinyl (500 copies). These soulful vibes remind me of something from the past eventhough I can’t quite put my finger on what. We were given an exclusive non-album track by the guys from MPM to share with you guys. Enjoy “Space Journey” and BUY this mini-album at the MPM store….it’s crazy nice. [artwork and photos by Robert Winter]

Hypno-tizing hip-hop, indie, dancepop and afrobeat are the main ingredients for their latest “heritage” EP. They cover Jay Z, Fela, Art Of Noise, Outkast and Madlib & MF Doom. I think the HBE has really outdone themselves this time. My two favs are “Water” and “Spottie”. Grab the latter of the two which was a gift from mark from Choice Cuts. Hurry up and Pre-order this EP over at Rush Hour, cuz this is a limited 12″ release. The artwork kinda reminds me of the that Hidden Strength album, but that’s because of the colours and the pyramid.

Really great music coming out of the Eglo camp lately and with this being their 8th release I think congratz are in order. Also congratz to Steve for getting signed to Hyperdub recently. The flipside has “Must Move” on it which is more of a psyched out electronic eighties tune if you ask me. Head over to Rush Hour to purchase the vinyl, because the A-side alone is well worth the money!
FunkinEven – She’s Acid (Promo Version)

Wise choice of the guys from Record Breakin’ Music to bust out the black and blue and splash it on some slipmats. Of course their logo is all over the place and I think even Taz Arnold would get a pair of these just to match his blue LV undies. These can be yours for only $15,- so treat your decks to something proper and BUY HERE!
Lorn is about to release his debut album “Nothing Else” on FlyLo‘s Brainfeeder label. This 23 year old producers from the Illinois, drops a rather melancholic and brutal debut on us. The off-centre melodic “Cherry Moon” is available as a FREE download so get it while it’s hot. Nothing Else I’ve heard recently sounds this raw and angry, but I guess that’s what you get when you grow up in the middle of nowhere. Let us know what you guys think of this upcoming Brainfeeder release. Pre-order now via Ninjatune and shout out to Alpha Pup.

Available for FREE download (high quality) via the Mellow Orange or Organology Bandcamp. Freddie’s full-length “Midway” album will be released this summer in the States and Japan and I have to admit “A.M.” sounds pretty decent. At times it even reminds me a bit of some Kev Brown productions. I’m curious what “Midway” will sound like and what vocalists he’ll be working with.
