We recently received this amazing care package filled with goodies from Omega Supreme Records. Guess thius this is the perfect timing to let ya’ll know about Turquoise Summers who happens to be Dam-Funk’s lil’ cousin. Couldn’t miss with the name P. Riddick in the credits! This Southern California native dropped his debut full-length album, “A Touch of Turquoise”, last month on Omega Supreme Records. The vinyl is already long gone, but there’s still some cassettes available.
Twentythree year old electronic savant and jazz trained keyboardist, Pomrad, released his second EP today. The refreshing sounding “This Day” EP is out on Earnest Endeavours and is the successor of last year’s “Vlotjes” EP. Prepare to be pleasantly surprised by Pomrad’s funky electronic talkbox-type-of-sexy-stuff. Vinyl will be out in two weeks!
K-Maxx and the Sweater Funk crew are releasing Ken’s new self-titled 4-track EP. The project has already won the endorsement of the no. 1 Modern Funk brotha, DaM-FunK, and will soon be played at a party near you! When I was in San Francisco a few years back, I noticed that the Funk was strong in the Bay Area. Feast your ears on “My Medicine” and make sure you pre-order the vinyl at Sound Boutique or get yourself a digital dose on Bandcamp.
Summer time is on it’s way, can you guys feel it too? Even though it’s still freezin’ cold over here, this brand new duo from L.A. is brining that blazin’ hot FUNK! Tuxedo‘s identity is still being kept a secret (for now), but it’s pretty obvious who the singer is right?! We’ll play along like the nice guys that we are, but if you’d like to speculate…go ahead. Download their free “Tuxedo” EP right here and start the hype! (Oh and thanks to Kenny for keeping it fresh)..
Heard some nasty Funk from Italian producer Jolly Mare today and thought you guys might enjoy a free downloadable of “Tutto Bene”. Fabrizio, who you might have heard on Juicy Tunes before, will be participating in the RBMA in NY this year. Bad Panda Records is hosting a remix contest, so any producers interested can download the stems here.
A few days ago I saw that Opolopo unleashed a new jam into the public. Unfortunately I forgot to post, but now is as good as time as ever to let you know about “Liquid Time”. This unreleased little gem will easy you through your weekend.
You guys might remember that “Sweet Rendez-Vous” remix by Billy Palmier from our The Future of Funk 3 mix. The limited 12-inch vinyl is available now and comes with a free copy of his “Sure Shot” 10-inch (Citywurl Records).
