It’s been way too long since we have heard anything from the ultra talented Soul singer Nick Price.

We caught up with him and right before the holidays he thought he’d get back in the studio with the fellas from Moonchild. The outcome is “The Christmas Song” (Chestnuts Roasting). Now if this doesn’t get you in the holiday spirit, I don’t know what will. Of course Christmas is about giving, so enjoy this free download!

Nick’s debut song “Naked Souls” has been getting love from so many people from around the world and we truly hope Nick will take it next level next year. We wish him and one and all a delightful Christmas with loads of beautiful music and good times. Merry Christmas!

With Usher’s 8701 as a reference, Juan Cristobal started creating his 90’s/00’s R&B-inspired craft that he blends with future sounds in this present day of age.

His two year in-the-making ‘Precious’ album celebrates the musical journey that he started ten years ago. Long before being known as Juan Cristobal. Today, he decides to put music aside to fulfill other life projects he now has. Precious is his debut and at the same time last album that he will release on Christmas as the very first and last gift to his fans thanking them for their enduring support.

We are happy to exclusively premiere “So Beautiful” featuring Andre DePriest. So enjoy and ho ho ho head on over the Cosmonostro Bandcamp page for some presents in the form of a pre-order. Oh before I forget the good people from Cosmonostro are giving away this free wall paper to keep the holiday spirit alive.

On the weekend I was having fun selling some records at a records in Amsterdam, when I ran into Seravince who told me that D’Angelo‘s new album was finally dropping in cooperation with The Vanguard.

I didn’t really think much of it, but decided to check it out anyway and here’s what I think of the “Black Messiah” album. First of all when you keep your fans waiting for such a long time it’s almost impossible to live up to all those expectations. Rest assure this album is not mind-blowing. Sure it features Q-Tip, ?uestlove, Pino Palladino and James Gadson, but in all honesty it has a couple of great songs on it I can really relate to. If this was any other artist I would probably be a little bit more excited, but in this case I can only say this is something worth listening to.

True die-hard fans, who have been yearning for a decade and a half, might be overjoyed and will love it either way. I can dig that Black Messiah is not about one man, but about a feeling that collectivly we can all be charismatic leaders. I hope a lot of people buy this record, but in the time D’Angelo was absent he has gained a lot of worthy competition.

For me two songs stood out and deserve some attention. First of all please give “Really Love” a good listen. It brings joy to my ears as does the closing track “Another Life”. Make sure you visit iTunes and give Black Messiah a chance.

Hello world. Meet Turkish delight Kerem Akdag from the city of Istanbul.

He specializes in soulful low-slung beats and slow house grooves, which he creates mostly in the comfort of his own home. Kerem Akdag was playing drums and a little bit of guitar before he got into making music in high school. Muscially he was inspired by Stevie Wonder, Jeremy Sylvester and the legendary J Dilla.

Kerem Akdag signed to Darker Than Wax earlier this year and is ready to show his Hip Hop/Soul side he says in an interview with Underground EU. Also watch out for more new music coming out in 2015.

Ever since we came in contact with Hiatus Kaiyote‘s music, we were hooked! Back in 2012 wrote a little piece on their debut “Tawk Tomahawk” album.

With anticipation we have all waited for years in the hope the mighty band out of Melbourne would one day return. To my great surprise, Red Bull premiered the band’s “By Fire” EP earlier today with amazing artwork by James ‘Laneous’ Lane. In an enlightening interview with Nai Palm we can read that the title track is essentially a burial song for her father, who died in a house fire.

The EP is slated for official release December 2nd and it’s a taste of what is to come next year. Hiatus Kaiyote’s sophomore album, “Choose Your Weapon”, is what I call the perfect birthday present! It is said to come out on in March on Flying Buddha/Sony Music Masterworks and I for one can hardly wait.

Been keeping an eye out for the gorgeous miss Maïa for a while now and I believe it’s time to tell you all what’s up.

The young vocalist from Brisbane is on some nu-neo low-fi soul type of sh*t and her latest track, “Life Is A Lie“, is out for your enjoyment. The song was produced by Intrnet and tells the tale of self-discovery. The production is what we would expect, titty tight! Miss Maïa’s style of crooning takes a little getting used to, but I’m pretty sure we will be hearing more from this beautiful young lady.

Now get your ass over to Soundcloud and start following Maïa now!

Gilles Peterson and Brownswood Recordings return with the latest installment of the highly anticipated compilation series, “Brownswood Bubblers Volume 11“.

Mister Peterson has built an unparalleled reputation for unearthing hidden gems and new and exciting talent over the course of his career. Brownswood Bubblers has established a good reputation over the years for providing a platform for emerging talent from the worldwide underground. On volume 11, we find music from Moonchild, Nick Hakim, Billie Black, Al Dobson Jr, Photay, James Tillman, Zackey Force Funk and Like from Pac Div. Just to name a few.

Brownswood Bubblers is an 18-track compilation that won’t disappoint and is available on CD and digitally. Head over to Bandcamp or find what you’re looking for on iTunes.

Back in April Jesse Boykins III released his “Love Apparatus” album. Who would have thought a deluxe edition was to follow seven months later?

As you might know most of the songs on the original “Love Apparatus” album were produced by Machinedrum with some additional contributions from Hadyn and Chad Beatz. Jesse Boykins’ style of Soul (if you will) is far beyond neo or future.

On this deluxe edition he proves that once more by calling in the help of contemporary producers such as starRo, Nadastrom, BodhiSoft GlasRuckazoid and more. Add two fresh bonus tracks and you have a very good reason to drop $12 on iTunes (in case you didn’t get the original album earlier). Follow sir JB3 on Soundcloud and listen to some of the remixes there.

12.11.14

Good morning everyone, or evening depending on which part of the globe you reside. We’d like you to take a listen to Sarah White from Minneapolis. This young lady very recently collaborated with hometown producer M¥K to give you this brand new and steamy version of here previously released song “Create Found“.

The vibe kind of reminds me of J’Davey, but perhaps this sound a bit more raw and nasty. One thing is for sure miss Sarah White knows exactly how we like it! After having heard this song you will most likely want to get your groove on thanks to these dirty deep synthesized vibrations.

Panes is a name that’s new to us, but perhaps you are familiar with the duo. Tyson McVey is a vocalist from London who now studies at UCL. Shaun Savage is a recording engineer whose credits include artists such as Factory Floor and 2.54.

Earlier this year they released their debut EP on Norwegian label Smalltown Supersound’s new subsidiary Brown Rice. Now, to accompany Autumn/Winter support slots with kindred spirits Kelela and East India Youth, they are releasing “Stills” with handpicked remixes by their favorite producers; Visionist, Sivey and Eyedress. Since we are huge fans or Sivey‘s music, we had to share his Funk-influenced remix with you all.
