Principal Dean is an analog-obsessed, melodically-rich producer from Burlington (Vermont). He’s been on a steady diet of making music for quite a while now and is inspired by Soul music. His own style is perhaps best described as melodic Trap music with a funky soulful twist.

His upcoming “Air” EP will out via the French label Cosmonostro with the release date slated for September 29th. We’re super excited to exclusively premiere the title track, so sit back and enjoy the ride. Make sure you share your findings and follow Principal Dean on his social media sites. Also head on over to the Cosmonostro Bandcamp page to pre-order this release.

At the beginning of the year James Vincent McMorrow from Dublin released his album “Post Tropical” via Vagrant Records. It is said that on a pecan farm half a mile from the Mexican border, the album on which he wrote, produced, and played virtually every instrument on, was recorded in three and a half weeks. It took over eight months to to construct of course and James really wanted to give this record the feel and movement of the hip-hop records that he loves.

Now we had never heard of this Irish singer/songwriter, but after having heard Atu‘s remix of “Glacier” we were baffled beyond believe. Such an amazing, melodic piece of music that cannot be boxed into genres. Perfect piano play combined with James Vincent McMorrow’s soul piercing vocals creates instant goosebumps. Really hope to hear more collaborative efforts in the near future, because these guys are like peanut butter and jelly!

Chris McClenney is at it again. This time he ‘Selflessly’ donates the track “Peace” for Visual Vibez‘s non-profit project. Earlier today Chris announced his goal to move out to Los Angeles before July 15th next year. And I’m very sure young Chris McClenney will reach his goal for the world is his oyster.

Two weeks ago Singularis (aka Frank de Bruin) from the Netherlands dropped his track “Shadows“, which is also on the “Selfless” project. I wrote a nice piece on Okayfuture in case you would like to read more about that.

Please make sure you make a donation to support art & music. This time all proceeds go to Playing for Change Foundation.

Video

Get ready to be blown away, because the new documentary series “Diggin In The Carts” is the untold story behind the most influential music to come out of Japan. That’s right video game music.

Some of you might have been heavily influenced by the composers behind these timeless 8-bit melodies. Till now they have remained faceless, but thanks to the Red Bull Music Academy and Nick Dwyer the world can now hear and see some of the stories.

Episode 1: The Rise of Video Game Music is available here and I’m pretty sure you’ll want to tune in weekly after seeing it. Watch how producers like Flying Lotus, Kode9, Havoc (Mobb Deep) and Oh No comment on some of their most precious memories…video games.

Promnite is one of those new producers out of L.A. that we’re really feeling right now. Especially on this previously unreleased track he did together with Mr. Carmack, Mike Gao, Mike Parvizi & Paper Diamond.

At first listen some of you might ask yourself if this isn’t too rough, while others start bouncing no questions asked. Just wait for it though! At 01.23 those synths come swervin’ it and damn does it sound like magic when everything comes together. Nicely done and I’m starting to grow fond of these Cali collaborations by the way. Shout out to Promnite and Mike ‘Blonde Foreskin’ Gao. Keep ’em coming fellas.

Sir David Sivey from Manchester has been making quite some noise this year. Not only as a solo producer, but a few months ago he gave birth to a collaboration with Evil Needle. The “Constructive Interference” EP was released on Soulection in June and is a fine piece of work. What some of you might not know (yet) is that Sivey is also one hell of a DJ.

He has done a couple of crackin’ mixes, like the one he did for SSENSE. Now we’re quite excited to present you with Moovmnt guest mix number 10. It took a little while, but all good things are worth waiting for. Many thanks to Sivey and also to Duktus for the sweet artwork.

We would like to introduce a British producer called PYRMDPLAZA. Since it’s the first day of September and we’re starting it fresh and all.

He’s signed with the French label LaRuche Records and very recently released the track “Foundry” via Soundcloud.  Bangin’ ass beat with a heavy dose of Funk to make it swing just the right way. Top it off with some heavy synths and you got the formula down to a science. Great song right here!

The label has been signing some interesting artists lately, so we’ve been keeping an eye on them from. You might want to check out PYRMDPLAZA’s free “Grateful” EP and the track “Games”, which was a contribution to LaRuche’s ‘Free Download Tracks’ series.

We’d like ya’ll to meet miss Rachel Foxx. This gorgeous vocalist from London has a classic R&B style and sounds super classy.

She’s already worked with Evil Needle, El Train and J-Louis flipped one of her songs recently. Rachel Foxx’s “The EP” release contains six tracks and gives you great impression of her abilities. Not much info on this young lady yet, but I bet that’s about to change. The winning tracks for us are “Before You” produced by Hurricane and “Intro” produced by none other than Evil Needle.

Fortunately the whole EP is available as a free download on her Soundcloud page, so make sure you snatch that up and enjoy to the fullest!
