So his royal badness sir Prince is releasing two new albums next month. Both “Art Official Age” (solo project) and “Plectrum Electrum” (with 3rdeyegirl) are said to come out on the same day.
Now some of you might already know I’m not the prince of purple’s biggest fan, but I gotta give credit where credit is due. On the track “Clouds” featuring Lianne La Havas he simply tears sh*t up. Mr Nelson brings us that new-age, sexy space Funk that can move young and old. Oh boy don’t even get me started on the recently added track “U Know”. Hot liquid sex poured all over a naked woman’s body right thurr!

We at Moovmnt have been a big fan of Mono/Poly from day one. His “Paramatma” album on Tasteful Licks was a breath of fresh air really and when he dropped “Needs Deodorant” that was on the “Manifestations” EP the year after…wow!
Since then it seems to have been an endless wait really. Many year later Mono/Poly finally releases his debut full-lenght album, entitled “Golden Skies“, on Brainfeeder. Now many seem to be blown away by this beat-driven cosmic soundscape he likes to describe as ‘electronic-classical-alchemy music’. Personally I’m not that keen on it. It wasn’t until the very last track that a smile appeared on my face. I’d almost given up hope and wanted to push the delete button. Young Abhi Raju and Dijon Duenas, aka Abhi//Dijon, met in high school during their freshman year. Abhi was born in India and grew up in Maryland. He always wanted to be a lead singer in a band, while Dijon always wanted to be a rapper. That’s why he started making beats.
Earlier this week the basement R&B duo released their “Abhi//Dijon” EP as a free download and man does this need to be in your music collection. To be really ‘Honest’…that’s the mawf*ckin joint right there! Out with the Nu Soul and in with the Future R&B? Although the two have limited time to create music together, they are doing their damn best to drop some more music this year.
Diggs Duke is getting ready to release “The Upper Hand & Other Grand Illusions“. An EP that follows up his “Offering For Anxious” album that came out on Brownswood last year.
We’ve had the pleasure of seeing Diggs Duke perform a few years ago and it became very clear he’s a true musician. He hails from Washington, where he intimately crafted a small collection of tracks, which tell stories about courtship and intimate interactions. On the EP tracks such as “Forever Love Is Tainted” (produced by Jelani Brooks) sound both rough, yet very heartfelt. Definitely one of the best songs on here together with “The Pinnacle“. A song that brings about happiness with ever note.
Duke is a star at blending Hip Hop and Soul rhythms with jazzy grooves and he is a master at keeping it simple. It’s almost like your reading some of his personal notes. Lyrics are very recognizable and simple plus most songs are short and straight to the point. The EP will be out September 1st and look for the 12” vinyl at all quality records shops around the world.
Amin Payne & Ben Bada Boom‘s “Collision” album gets revisited by an impressive line-up of producers from all over the globe.
What we have here is ten brand new sounds of which nine are remixes and one is a bonus track. In case you were wondering who is part of this remix orgy, here’s the list. Dagmxy is an international trio of producers consisting of DOC Mastermind from Paris, Axion117 from Toshigi (Japan) and Go yama from San Diego.
They all met in 2012 on the Internet, when they were workin on the same label at that time. Last year Dagmxy decided to work on an album together, so they combined forces and created a concept album. The project got side-tracked when one of the producers had complications with his laptop, but after all this time it’s finished. The title of the album is “Asa” and it will be released on Expansions Collective September 3rd. Get your pre-orders here now.

Mr Carmack has been making so much noise lately that sooner or later we just had to post about this producer from LA.
Ever since our homey B. Bravo moved out to Los Angeles, great things have been happening to him. It was to my surprise that on Mr Carmack’s latest track “Something About You Baby“, I heard buddy B on the talkbox. But wait no mention of him anywhere? Well anyway the track is freakin’ amazing and funked us right out of our sucks. Been wondering for a while when a collaboration between these two would come to fruition, but nothing official has dropped yet.
Make sure you enjoy that good stuff though and keep it funky.
Goodness gracious me, that new remix Max Graef just did for Mr Scruff is just bananas, with nuts, whipped cream and a bunch of cherries on top.
After having recruited AD Bourke, Mr Scruff now calls in the help of German wunderkind Max Graef to remix “We Are Coming” of his “Friendly Bacteria” album. Graef was born and raised in Berlin and where he’s been tearing shit up lately. He has released music on labels such as Tartelet Records and his own label Box Aus Holz. On this remix he delivers such an amazing groove with filthy, nasty bass and synths. An instant winner! And to fatten the pot we find a re-tweak of “Feel Free” on the b-side of this 12-inch releasing next month via Ninja Tune.

Los Angeles-based producer Seven Davis Jr slaps a slab of filthy Funk right in your face with his latest track “Charms” of the 4th volume in the Hit+Run “Road Kill” series. Dope uptempo instrumental that reminds me a little of some old AFTA-1 stuff.
The compilation album contains 27 exclusive and unreleased song from producers from all over the world. They represent Brainfeeder, Leaving Records, Ninja Tune, Alpha Pup and many more.

Submotion Orchestra is a 7 piece band from the United Kingdom. For those that don’t know, they play a fusion of bass heavy Electronica, Jazz and Soul music and a whole lot more. And they play it quite well.
