A few weeks ago we heard Mr Beatnick‘s new song entitled “Sun Goddess” of the same titled EP coming out next week on Don’t Be Afraid. I thought it was so good that I put it in a mix for #jusayin radio. Don’t know when that will be out, but when Nick just sent over a link to the official video I was happy. It’s my pleasure to share this wonderful tune with you guys! Spread the word if you like this..

You might remember how we started this year off with “From Another World” from Boddhi Satva featuring Vikter Duplaix. Boddhi hails from Central African Republic and is known best for his Ancestral Soul sound. To give you an idea of what Ancestral Soul is, read the following.

When deep house music has modern Congolese rumba as wife, West African voices as mistresses and urban R&B and Afro-Cuban rhythms as occasional girlfriends, that’s Ancestral Soul.

His debut album, “Invocation”, was released last year in Africa and will be seeing a re-release later this month via BBE Records. His latest sensual song, “How Sex Changes Things”, featuring Leslie Kisumuna gets you in the mood for some good ol’ love making.

Multi-talented singer/songerwriter/actress Sy Smith is back with her fourth album called “Fast And Curious” released on her own label Psyko Records. The album was entirely produced and co-written by Mark de Clive-Lowe. This right here is a nice fusion of soulful house, broken beat and downtempo electronic soul. Fellow soul singer, Rahsaan Patterson, joins Sy on her interpretation of Billy Ocean’s boogie banger “Nights” (Feel Like Getting Down), but one of our favorites is “Teena”. One of those albums you have to give a listen and buy on Bandcamp if you decide it’s worth it.

“Breathtaking sparkles, glimmering fractions. What melodical madness causes such satisfaction?”

Part two of our monthly “Glimering Fractions” mix is a fact. February’s birthstone is ‘Amethyst, which by Ancient Greeks was believed to protect the wearer against getting drunk. Had to leave out a few songs, so that’s why it came out 10 minutes shorter than expected. Hope you all dig it and if so be so kind to share it. It’s available for download on our Soundcloud page or you can stream it via Mixcloud as well.

Lawd have mercy. How we sleep on some stuff at times…it’s bananas. My man MRP told me I should check out Glenn Underground‘s album from a few months ago, entitled “Forgotten Art”. Chicago House at it’s finest with heavy Jazz influences. A definite must cop if you’re into this kinda music! Visit Juno to buy this CD.

A few months ago Rick Wade release a very limited album entitled “Never Ending Reflections” on CD. Only 400 were made, so it was kinda on the downlow. Luckily I got my hands on a copy and am now sharing a snippet with you guys of one of my favorite tracks of the album. Get you soulful Sunday on with some nice Detroit deep house…no more sleeping on this one. Rush Hour is taking pre-orders for the 2xLP vinyl which will be out soon.

“Breathtaking sparkles, glimmering fractions. What melodical madness causes such satisfaction?”

Yes, yes…finally it’s here. A monthly selection of gems for everyone to enjoy in the form of a 1 hour mix (give or take a few minutes). Since the number 12 is also known as the number for perfection, we have chosen a birthstone for each month. So if you’re into diamonds by the dozen or you like rubies in the rough,  you’re in the right place.
January’s birthstone is the Garnet. It’s name comes from the 14th century Middle English word, gernet, meaning ‘dark red’. Enjoy our first mix of the year and spread the word if you dig this.

Somewhere in november this brilliant record was released on Sound Signature and I kindasleptonit I guess. My man Mr. Speak told me about this one, but I just checked it out last week. Theo Parrish has been labeled a musical genius and I never understood why. Well I know now after hearing the A-side Chemistry. Theo Parrish hooked up with the likes of Steve Spacek, AdreyaTriana and Om’Mas Keith to create Chemistry and here it is. If you support good music, buy the full track. Use your own google skills to get it…
