Multi-talented singer/songerwriter/actress Sy Smith is back with her fourth album called “Fast And Curious” released on her own label Psyko Records. The album was entirely produced and co-written by Mark de Clive-Lowe. This right here is a nice fusion of soulful house, broken beat and downtempo electronic soul. Fellow soul singer, Rahsaan Patterson, joins Sy on her interpretation of Billy Ocean’s boogie banger “Nights” (Feel Like Getting Down), but one of our favorites is “Teena”. One of those albums you have to give a listen and buy on Bandcamp if you decide it’s worth it.

Part two of our monthly “Glimering Fractions” mix is a fact. February’s birthstone is ‘Amethyst, which by Ancient Greeks was believed to protect the wearer against getting drunk. Lawd have mercy. How we sleep on some stuff at times…it’s bananas. My man MRP told me I should check out Glenn Underground‘s album from a few months ago, entitled “Forgotten Art”. Chicago House at it’s finest with heavy Jazz influences. A definite must cop if you’re into this kinda music! Visit Juno to buy this CD.

A few months ago Rick Wade release a very limited album entitled “Never Ending Reflections” on CD. Only 400 were made, so it was kinda on the downlow. Somewhere in november this brilliant record was released on Sound Signature and I kindasleptonit I guess. My man Mr. Speak told me about this one, but I just checked it out last week. Theo Parrish has been labeled a musical genius and I never understood why. Well I know now after hearing the A-side Chemistry.
