Okay I’ll be blunt…I hated Raphael Saadiq‘s “Stone Rollin” album with a passion. Where I simply loved his first two albums, I could not make any connection with his latest two attempts. Not gonna go into details, but this week I found out there’s this sneaky little bonus gem hidden in the last track by the name of “The Perfect Storm” featuring the legendary Larry Graham. Now this does however float my proverbial boat. Took me some time to figure this out though, but that’s what these Slept on Sundays are for.

“Bleep Bloop Brrrrmmp” is eLan‘s latest project coming out on Monkeytown today. The 6-track EP contains some heavy wonkey beats and also a remix by the guys from Lazer Sword. Also a non-album track, “Hoeman”, that I thought you might like to hear as well. It’s available digitally at  and on limited edition (555 copies) colored vinyl. The homie AD Bourke drops a dirty, nasty, synthfilled “Jam Sess1” via Soundcloud…just the way I like ’em! Love to hear some experiments like these more often, cuz it’s sho nuff funky. Seems so long ago, but this picture was taken at last year Red Bull Music Academy in London.

Perhaps the best MC at this point in time, Elzhi, just dropped his highly anticipated “Elmatic” project which is of course a tribute to one the best MC’s of my time..Nas. Usually I hate tribute projects, because 99 times out of 100 they’re just wack and add nothing to the original. When I heard “Detroit State of Mind” I was just blown away. Not only does Elzhi add his own twist lyrically. Production-wise The Will Sessions Band also adds their own kinda flavor to the project which makes it extra nice in my opinion. I suggest you treat your ears to some lyrical niceness and download the FREE mixtape over at XXLmag (low bitrate) or in 320 quality HERE.

Tokyo Dawn is back with another great release. The German-based production and DJ collective SoulParlor is about to release their “Evoluzion” album, which spelled bacwards reads ‘Noiz U Love’. Fully loaded with 19 tracks, it manages to cross several musical genres while staying hella fresh throughout. Highly suitable for DJ’s as well since Evoluzion contains a few heavy dancefloor hitters.

Expect guest vocals from the likes of Oddisee, Replife, Cecilia Stalin (Koop), Colonel Red, Jacob And The Appleblossom (Wagner Love) and more.
