It’s been a while, but today I learned that Moonchild (the trio coming out of L.A.) released another quality album. For those that know about “Be Free”…you are going love their new adventure entitled “Please Rewind”. I never thought I’d appreciate this one as much as their previous album, but I do! Super soulful and jazzy with soothing vocals from the lovely Amber. Something you should definitely get comfy to and purchase.
IAMNOBODI took several unique polaroid photos in the streets of the city that inspired his newest release, “Snapshots From Berlin”. All polaroids are signed by, contain comments from and/or were painted on by Mr. Nobodi himself. Only 250 copies were pressed on numbered vinyl and each record contains one of these polaroids. ChromadaData first popped on our radar when he dropped the talbox banger “Closer” last year. This young and extremely talented producer from Kansas City recently released a new album on Elestial Sound. Whether you’re into soulful melodic beats or straight up filthy funk…this is something you will want to own! Available in both digital format as well as on good ol’ vinyl.
One of Brooklyn’s finest, Taylor McFerrin, just blessed the world with “The Antidote”. An audible orgasms featuring Nai Palm of Hiatus Kaiyote. Pure crack if you ask us of his forthcoming album “Early Riser” on Brainfeeder. Watch out for that one May 3rd and until then just sit back and enjoy.
Inkswel & Ugly Drums team up to form Uglyink, who will be releasing a clear limited edition 10″ record containing “Watch Out” featuring miss Charli James. Expect it to be released this summer on Cfr Ltd/City Fly Records and thanks to Dutch designer Joel VDK for the sweet artwork.
Last month Gagle released their new Hip Hop for you guys from “VG+”. For all you vinyl heads out there, you know the deal. An acceptable state for a vinyl record to be in is Very Good Plus (or VG+). I hear a lot of dope sample-based productions on this one. Although I can’t understand a word that’s being spoken (this is why I decided to stream the intro), I’m down with these cats! Can’t remember the last time we wrote about Jesse Boykins III really. His latest song “Live In Me” seems like a good reason to do so again. Superb production by Machinedrum and off Jesse’s upcoming “Love Apparatus” album that’s set to release April 22nd on Nomadic Music.
What can I say about one of Houston’s best kept secrets? I heard about JayLotus in the past, but it wasn’t until today that I realized he and Philippe Edison are the same. The multi-talented Modern Jazz musician gets down on alto sax, tenor sax and piano as well. On my early morning music stroll today, I came across a beautiful young lady that goes by the name of May. I think she’s from Germany originally, but moved to Belgium not too long ago. Couldn’t find a lot of info on miss May, but I do know that I really like FloFilz‘s remix for her song entitled “Soul”. Her debut EP is scheduled for May, so stay tuned!
It seems like Coast Vega is from all over the place, but we definitely hear some Cali & ATL influences on his latest, “These Moments”, produced by German wunder-producer IAMNOBODI. This jam is by far the best and slightly reminiscent of that ol’ Andre 3000 vibe.
