Growing up in South London, singer/songwriter Sean J. Rankine started learning the drums and percussion, playing in a choir alongside bassist Micheal Olatuja (Olatuja Project) and guitarist Femi Temowo (Femitone). Last year Sean dove into music even deeper, teaming up with producer Justin Atherley, with the release of “(Love Is) Here Now” a single (available as a ‘name your price’ download) from his forthcoming EP. You won’t find phrases such as ‘world domination’ or ‘household name’ in Sean’s master plan. In fact there is no plan. He simply wants to learn, evolve and create art he can be proud of.

A long time ago, when Hip Hop was a lot different then it is now, there was a producer named Shawn J Period. He had produced for Mos Def, 4 Hero, Artifacts, Mad Skillz and Bush Babees in the nineties. Later in his carreer (2007) he released his “The Come Back” EP which contained “Journey’s Process”. For some reason I always loved instrumental and it’s time to share this as a Slept on Sundays joint.

A few weeks ago I talked to Vincent about the Positive Flow remix contest. Since it was the holiday season and he had been sick the whole time I didn’t think there would be a Seravince remix, but..here it is. He managed to create a very proper remix of “Do What I Do” featuring Omar and didn’t even break a sweat. With a little Afrobeat influences and a lot of Hip Hop in there too, this Afrofuzz remix is what we call a keeper! I think the boys over at TDR will like this one and of course we hope you do too.

Not really a Slept on Sundays jam, because we were full on Breezy Lovejoy‘s previous “Lovejoy” album. Been bumpin’ the shit out of “D.T.B.” these past few months so I hit up Breezy to ask if we could upload this one to our Soundcloud account. We wanted to share this one some more…too good to be slept on!

Personally I’ve never been one to rock Chuck Taylors, but I can sure appreciate “Keep It Movin Wih The All-Stars” from the 80’s Babies duo. You are listening to Tall Black Guy on production and sir Dee Jacksonon on the mic…a great combination! Their entry for the ‘Converse In Search Of Sound’ contest needs your vote, so please visit TBG’s Soundcloud page for more info or leave a nice comment behind.
