So Blu drops this new “UCLA” album out of the blue. It’s entirely produced by Madlib and you gotta love the cover! The quality of this release is incredibly poor though. Almost started to doubt whether this release is official or not. There’s only 2 songs on there that stand out and the overall quality of the vocal recordings is horrible. Dunno if this is worth $15 to you guys, but if you’d like to buy this visit this Bandcamp page. So it seems Stones Throw pulled this one of the net saying this is not a Blu X Madlib collaboration project.

Lawd have mercy. How we sleep on some stuff at times…it’s bananas. My man MRP told me I should check out Glenn Underground‘s album from a few months ago, entitled “Forgotten Art”. Chicago House at it’s finest with heavy Jazz influences. A definite must cop if you’re into this kinda music! Visit Juno to buy this CD.

I must confess…kinda late with this one, but it just reached our inbox. It seems that Speek Greene is working on a compilation EP (that he’s co-producing) entitled “Rock Paper Soul”. No idea when this is coming out, but this Morris Alan joint produced by Kev Brown is sounding nice yo. Hurry and grab a free download of “Let It Ride”, because there’s still 78 available at the moment.

We’ve been listening to Australia’s M-Phazes for a while now and this guy has been blowing up. Yesterday his new “Phazed Out” album came out with features from J-Live, Saigon, Inspectah Deck, Big Noyd, Termanology, Chubb Rock, Sadat X, Heltah Skeltah, Masta Ace, El Da Sensei, and a lot more legendary hip hop artists. Not really my type of hype, but I was digging “Perfect Timing” with CL Smooth and Skyzoo. Give the album a listen and if you decide to buy, grab it on Phazed Out - M-Phazes.

L.A.’s Terrace Martin has returned with some sweet new baby making Valentine music in the form of “4 Luv Suite”. Lots of slow sax solo’s which may very well lead to some slow sex action later tonight. Some really good soulful stuff on there like “Your Eyes” featuring Deonas. Make sure you cop this on via 4 Luv Suite - Terrace Martin and enjoy this day of love!

Myele Manzanza, aka the quirky kiwi with the drumsticks, has not only held down the drums as part of Wellington’s Electric Wire Hustle for the past 3 years. He was also a participant at the 2010 Red Bull Music Academy in London. It was there he met fellow participant Amenta who features on his first single “Me I Know Him” together with Myele’s dad Sam Manzanza. The second single is called “Absent” and is now available as a free download over at Myele’s Bandcamp page. His full length debut album “One” will feature guest appearances from Mark de Clive-Lowe, Mara TK, Ladi6, Charlie K & Rachel Fraser and drops this Friday through Every Waking Hour. Available as of now on One - Myele Manzanza.

Another leak from KCRW‘s Mathieu Schreyer. This time it’s a track from a Raphael Saadiq‘s unreleased album “Pookie Blue Room”. You can read Mathieu’s inside story below.

“Back in 2004 Raphael Saadiq opened his studio doors to Spacek to produce an album for one of his sub labels. The album was supposed to be called “Pookie Blue Room” and features 10 songs produced by both Steve Spacek and Morgan Zarate with Raphael singing on all of them and featuring guest appearances by Common, Q-tip, Ledisi, Steve Spacek and Sir Bentley….anyhow the album was never completed and therefore never released…” [Shouts to DJ Rahdu and Mathieu Schreyer].

Another Tall Black Guy 7″ just came out via CrossTalk. It took a while, but finally “Mini Therapy Chops” is now available for the fans. Eventhough the B-side “Love The World” is a doozy. It seems only fitting to stream the A-side called “Sweet Europe” right?! Go buy a copy and support good hip hop music in the process!
